Default What glue for plastic oil/coolant cover?

The plastic piece with the latch that keeps the oil/coolant fill area closed has come apart from the hinged door. The glue failed after over 10 years. I managed to get all the old glue out, and I'd like to reglue these two plastic pieces back together, but I'm not sure what glue to use. Does anyone have a recommendation? The old glue was fairly flexible kind of like wood glue, not hard like epoxy.

Ironically i was putting things back together today from my rear camera and mine popped off too. Was surprised it was just glued on.

Any particular brand of rtv you used?

Thanks

were ypu able to pull the door out of the hi ge system easily? Would be better to do off the car to get a better adhesion. Recommendations on how you did it if a yes?

Without knowing the type of plastic it can be hard to give advice. In this case I might try Goop adhesive? It sticks pretty well to most things, just kind of messy sometimes.

Other than the end of the tube exploding silicone all over my hand, the Permatex 80050 worked great after a 24 hour cure. It's reinstalled now. Will report back if there's any issue.

They are surprisingly useful on cars, especially if you get the right glue. Infinitybond makes these SuerTAC 500 sticks that are designed for gluing plastic, and they actually stick quite well to a variety of automotive plastics. Even the tough to glue stuff.
