$85,000 !!!!
OK - I spoke with the sales manager today. He got his Cayman S allocation and took his first order yesterday. Eighty Five Thousand dollars fully optioned. That included the brakes, etc, etc but wow... that's a lot of money...
I'm going up there tomorrow to order chrono, sport seats, short shift. I'll let you know what the final number is.

For someone that doesn't want a 911 and decides to fully customize a Cayman, $85,000 doesn't seem to bad.
Various performance options, paint to sample, interior leather and paint options, the numbers add up quick if you really personalize the car.

I just "build my own boxster" on the porsche website and for a boxster S I came up with:
Pricing
Vehicle base price
$53,100
Price total for equipment
$47,450
MSRP
$100,550
Now that is over the top, so add in the extra base price for the Cayman and I would bet you could clear that 100k if you ordered everything possible. I wonder how many people order the completely leather wrapped interior, we had a 1992 911 in the garage last year that the original owner ordered with most of the leather package, but left off one or two items.

Some people really want something special though. Not everyone has the luxury of going through exotics every couple years. Some people wait years to purchase a car like this. When their time finally comes, they really go all out.
It sounds like a lot, but stuff adds up. I thought it was amazing that the sticker on my 944 was $53.5k. Some people im sure called that absurd for a 944. The lady ordering it new however did the same thing. Special paint, full leather, stereo upgrades, everything available basically. (except M030 suspension and limited slip...grr....) My friend's old employer bought a standard C2 911 and paid close to 120k for it. Exclusive options all over.
Whatever makes ya happy!

85k.....That's just nuts, unless of course money is no object, in which case i would do it in a heartbeat. Guess I'll wait until they start getting traded in. My 00 996 stickered for 87900. I paid less than half that with only 30k+ miles, and that's before the prices dropped off the charts for 996s. Porsche just thinks way too highly of their options. I bought my Boxster for 12k, although I did have to spend 2k to make the interior presentable. A 58k car should come standard with most of that stuff..IMHO. I have three P-cars, all very nice and I have less in all three than the cost of this one Cayman. 996 for long trips, boxster as a daily driver, and 968 cab for weekends. Pay a lot for tires and such though
