Default 2001 and 2007 Boxster Comparison

I have a 2001 Boxster and am interested in 2007. For people who have driven both, what differences will I note. My primary interest is in long distance touring and everyday commuting rather than track.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I could have sworn you'd get a lot of responses over here...

Maybe they're all taking a long winter's nap?

Well, you really need to drive the 07 and sort it out for yourself since everyone has different expectations and preferences. Anyway, I'll offer my opinion. They’re both the best touring roadsters around but of course you get the extra power with the new one. I think the differences in handling, steering and road feel are very noticeable. The base 987 is a considerably softer ride compared to 986 and to get a comparable suspension to the 01 you have to add PASM and lower-profile tires. Now that you have a selection of three wheel sizes and an optional suspension with different electronic modes of stiffness, the shopping can get complex. Another new fact of life with Porsche touring is that the spare tire is history, so plan accordingly. Welcome to Rennlist!
