Lastly, word is the non-turbo BMW 3 car is the better car, cheaper too.

bad fuel pump seems to be another plague with that car.

Which tires are you getting the flats on?
See if you can upgrade the radio to the 2006 radio that plays mp3's.
4 flat tires seems unusual.

On a side note - the 18"/19" tire options available on the 997, and no spare, are definitely making me think twice about it as my next car....
I would never get 19" wheels on a convertible. You are begging for rattles if you do. My previous car had 19" wheels and about the only advantage was from an aesthetic perspective. 17" wheels provide a far more comfortable ride, and as you point out the handling benefits of a larger wheel on the street are nominal if any. Another advantage of the smaller wheels is that they cost a lot less than the 19"s.

but since my existing tires are 18" (i think), it would be extra cost for me to switch to 17" at this moment. Right?

u can use run flats, but you greatly reduce performance.
i am sorry but it's very unusual to have so many flats in one year. i avg 40k miles on all my cars added together, i only get avg 1 flat a year.

i wouldn't give up the car so easily.

You could buy a spare tire and carry it in your enormous trunk...

Unfortunately yes. Well at least you can console yourself with the fact that they look a lot better than 17" tires.

Wow four flats!! That's crazy. I've only had one flat on my Boxster in seven years.

I'm with the others, you can hardly blame your propensity for flats on Porsche.

Well, so you wouldn't agree that i'd have less of a frustration with a car that has a spare tire, and equipped with run flats?
given that i will probably have another 4 flats in the next year?
Like I said, I was just venting about my frustration, and i wanted to see what others think.
So far I've gathered:
1. 4 flats per year is way above average.
2. smaller size tires could help, but is costly at this stage.
3. my driving habits could be influential.

.

What do you mean? Are you asking if the wheel is defective or not? All my flats are casued by items on the road, like screws, nails, etc...

Hey Murat,

You mentioned getting stuck, and that run-flats would get you to a repair shop.

Don't you have the tire-goo (or whatever it's called), and the compressor?
