The Best Driving Road in the World
Has anyone driven the amazing St Gothard Pass in Switzerland?
I Cannot think of a better road to test a 987, have a look at this picture?

I can't tell from the picture, but are there guard rails on that stretch of road? If not, I don't think I would be driving my 987 very fast on that road. It looks kind of unforgiving if you lost control.

Yes, those Alpine passroads are simply fantastic
A couple of weeks after the factory pick-up of my 987S I did a great "inauguration" tour and drove all the major passroads in the Alps (all in all 2,100 km passroads). IMO there is not THE best passroad, they are all great in their own right. Grimselpass, Furkapass, Nufenenpass etc.
There is nothing like carving through those corners with the top down, enjoying the superb handling of the Boxster and the great panorama at the same time.
Here is a pic of my car on top of the Furkapass (twisties in the background of the pic)

St Goddard's Pass is one of the best! Was on it some time ago. With all the tunnels and bypass roads being put in these days it's fairly empty except for the sports cars and serious bikers!

The best driving world in the road is the one that takes me from work to home....sorry, I couldn't resist...
I just watched that episode of TopGear on my iTouch today, so I knew right away it was in Italy....I think the winning road was at an elevation of 8000 ft, and unfortunately for me I get headaches anywhere above 3500 ft above sea level due to a concussion suffered many years ago (not car related)....I did have a nice drive a few months ago, it was from Portland to Mt Hood, to the Columbia River Gorge, beautiful, I was hesitant to do it because the lodge at Mt Hood (Timberline Lodge/Jack Nicholson/"The Shining") is at 6500 feet above sea level, girl friend wasn't concerned if I was going to stroke out, she was more concerned with taking her uncle on a nice drive....she's history.....Now I can spend more time taking care of my car and not her crepe....
