I've enjoyed 45,000 miles and counting. The 997 nearly gets driven...

No major issues just prolonging changing the steering pump. Doesn't really need changing right now.

My 987 has about 36000 miles on it. I've had a few issues. Brake master cylinder failure -- the membrane inside ate itself an fouled up the whole system. Brakes went out on me at the track, but PCNA covered it under warranty. I'm not sure about the root cause. Also had and IMS failure at around 27K. PCNA replaced the motor under warranty as well, and I don't expect to have this kind of failure recur.

My 997 has about 18000 miles on it. Only issues have been a few squeaks and rattles. And it likes for me to buy it tires.

I have an 06 boxster S with close to 45k miles on it with no major issues. i had the push rods for the convertible top break yesterday and I'm happy to note its at the dealer getting repaired under warranty as i type this I broke the passenger side mirror and light on the sun visor last year by closing it into the sun roof but that was covered as well. did my 40k mile check up and had a broken push rod and that was covered too got to love the Porsche warranty

I know the feeling rear tires for the 997; purchased the Bridgestones and very happy with the tire and especially when you cost factor in the replacement of the Bridgestones compared to Miches... P-2's

My '05 has 40K+ on it. One major repair - new engine (warranty). Other than that and a couple of defective AC vents it has been great.

Surprising that they are still replacing engines.

Has this been resolved and or does anyone know if it's being resolved?

I really like the new Spyder and I'm contemplating one in the future but the potential for a blown engine out of warranty is scary.

Blown engines are always scary. However, the '05s and '06s had a design that was known to be susceptible to IMS failures (that's how mine failed). The motor Porsche replaced mine with has an updated bearing and bolt design to reduce the chance of this sort of failure.

The newer motors don't have IMS to fail. It's still a young design, and its failure modes aren't known yet, but the largest source of failures from the previous design have been eliminated.

Thanks Chris, good to know.

I'm in love with the Spyder, it represents everything I would want in a sports car.

21,XXX miles. (of 20,XXX were European roads)

987S 2006 born April 12th and picked up May 12th at the factory.

Rear tires, fluids and normal maint. intervals. Every moment of ownership has been great!

Now stuck in what is said to be the great nation of the USA...not so much for driving pleasure i'm afraid.

2007 987 has under 8000 miles. Soon to be daily driver. She will get driven more (about 5000 - 7000 miles per year) beginning in Aug when BMW lease expires.

Only 4,100 on the '09 Boxster. Many, many more on the 928 GTS.

I have 6200 miles on my 06' S (absolutely no issues other than recalls that may have been done, that I didn't scrutinize).....that's over 50 months....counting down til pay off.....no problems, have driven it regularly for it's exercise, and because some lame-brain rear ended my 08' VW-R32...I couldn't deal with driving a Korean rental car, so I turned it back in and put 1200 miles on it in a month and a half. I finally got my VW back, but I may not go back. May sell it and save for a Cayenne GTS (do they still make it?, probably) or a Targa 4S (would be more comfortable on trips and with the PDK I wouldn't have to do all of the driving).....(and my Boxster S was a mid-brain fart by Porsche, as they had taken out the spare in the 06's, and I purchased my car without TPMS, my bad, I know....so I am thinking about installing the Hella TPMS aftermarket system that TireRack sells. It would be nice to know that your tire is low on air at 135 mph (that's a hypothetical, of course!!!!).

I have an 08 with 2800 miles and zero problems. I just bought it in January and plan on driving the hell out of it this summer including a trip to Montreal for the F1 races next month.
