Emissions sticker - HELP!!!
I have my second appointment with the DMV tomorrow who wants to see the emissions sticker before they will register my 2008 Boxster (purchased out of state). I pulled up the carpeting on the bulkhead behind the seats expecting to find it there, but nada.
Where else should I be looking?
TIA

Please search on the other site (planet 9) as I don't know the answer. I'd have waited for others to chime in but your appointment is tomorrow... better get crackin'!

I'm pretty sure it's under the engine cover. You have to pull the carpeting off, then unscrew the engine cover (5 torx screws, I think), and it will be on the underside of the metal engine cover.

I can't imagine the stickers/decals would be on the underside of the engine cover since this is exposed to engine compartment heat and this would degrade the stickers over time.

Macster.

I'm pretty positive they moved them there on the 987. Remember, most other cars have the emission labels on the underside of the hood as well. Engine heat isn't going to be significantly higher in the Boxster.

Don't know where it is, but I can tell you that it gets incredibly hot under the 987 "hood". Much, much hotter than front-engined cars. Particularly a problem on the track, though it's also hotter just on the street.

My Passat W8 would retain a lot of heat under the hood, but it never affected the emission control label. Anyhow, the reason I think it is under the engine cover is because I remember the first time I pulled the engine cover off of a 987 I thought it was odd that they would put the emission sticker in such a difficult location.

Turns out its located on top of the engine, on the engine cover. You have to unhook the convertible top and tear back the carpet to expose the top cover plate. It's PITA, but not something you do on a regular basis.

I just saw this. Yes this is where I found it on my car. Had to do the same when I registered. I also needed a smog.

I would have never believed the sticker would move from the underneath side of rear trunk lid to the underneath side of the engine cover. Learn something every day.

That would be the sticker. Much easier to get to in a Cayman versus a Bixster.
