Default Is this car right for me?

I've been looking for a 2010-2012 Boxster S for a while now. My requirements are:

Be a weekend toy for cruising and some lame attempts at autocross
Maybe sell it in a few years to upgrade to a current gen Boxster
PDK and a few good options like heated seats
Green, Ruby Red, or Silver

I've seen this one for sale for a bit:

My questions:

Why is this a "bargain"?
The dealer is having a hard time selling it. I assume I would too, right?
Do P car fans really hate green that much?

If you're thinking of selling it in a few years I would re-consider color. Trying to sell a green Boxster with 60K +/- miles may prove a challenge.

I have seen this car a couple of times and IMHO I think it's a great color combo and the full leather interior is great looking. However at 45,000 miles I don't think $41,000 is a deal. I am also keeping my eye out for an S car in the same year range and I like the same colors you are considering however I am looking for a manual trans with heated, fully powered seats. I don't really know what the sport chrono PKG offers in a manual so I don't think I need this. I would love to have the radio controls on the wheel but certainly not necessary. good luck in your search

I would have to see the color in person. In the photos I think the color is nice but that would be WAY TOO many miles for me. I think you could find a better deal.

I'll take a contrary view. I didn't do the math, but this car certainly stickered in the $70Ks about three years ago. So it depreciated over 40% in that time. The mileage is high for a Porsche but typical for a DD. I expect that you could buy this car for around $38K - $39K which would be a great deal for a well equipped 987S that is less than 3 years old, provided you like the car. As far as resale value is concerned, you may lose a little compared to more popular colors but don't forget you are paying a lot less. So I believe that the color works to your advantage, again provided that you like it.

With that many miles in that short a time, it will probably have had any delivery/warranty issues resolved.
Every Porsche we've owned has had delivery/warranty issues. If we hadn't put miles on the cars, they would not have been resolved within the warranty period - and some would have been very expensive.

And it is a CPO car. No matter what anyone says, that's a good thing. Any dealer will stand behind that warranty.... and because it's a CPO car, it's going to be a little more than if you buy one off the street.

I bought a 2008 CPO car and the "little bit extra" I paid totally paid for itself in the first 6 months. Now I've got a solid car, still under CPO warranty.

Color is a personal thing. Some like it, some don't, but that goes for any color.

Greens always get slagged in the Porsche world.

It is odd because it is a favorite color of the Porsche family, and many of their personal cars were painted in exclusive shades of green.

The "green" in question is not a color that I would select for myself; however, I've seen a Boxster in that color (with a tan interior) and it looked fine. Because of its relative rarity, that in itself makes it a color that would attract an individualist who likes to march to the tune of a different drummer. I say, if you like it.....buy it.

Great options on that one. The natural brown leather is one of my favorites. That green is much better than the kermit green occasionally used.

Go see the car in person. Once you drive it, you will know if it's for you.

It's winter and a convertible is offered for sale in Rhode Island - that may affect the price more than anything. Well, that and the relatively high mileage.

I should tell you that I used to have a 2000 Boxster S. (I now have a 2011 Boxster S).

It was green with tan interior. It was SO pretty!

I sold it in late 2003 to get a GT3.

A year or so later I got a phone call from the guy who had bought my 2000 Boxster S. He told me how much he loved the car and the various mods I had made to it; he specifically loved the color combo.
