Not sure I've heard anyone doing such a conversion due to all the electronics involved. Yours is pretty much a clean slate, so that should be the major concern. I would think you'd want the all the computer and wiring harness out of the 997. I really liked your old school set up from before. You had the best of both worlds, air cooled turbo and mid-engine balance.

I'm sure there were quite a few weekend garage guys thinking, "blown engine '06 cayman + wrecked 90's 911 turbo = DIY track killer".

Hummm.... I could do that!

Then they remember they're married.

thanks ill try flat six.

ive seen the car, but only from inside a cup car it was racing against, just wanted to ask the creator a few questions. i really wanted to keep a aircooled motor as the watercooled has extra weight with all the rads/pipes coolant etc. i do like the idea of 500hp without mods to start with though, so the engine is hopefully less stressed than my old aircooled one. ive got the engine on the floor just need to get the car on a ramp and let the fun begin! ill post some pics in the week, thanks mark

I would also look at TPC Racing, they have done a lot of turbo upgrades on the Cayman and even offer a kit.

thanks guys, i found the guy now. hes called loren beggs from nine 11 design. its a tube frame car built by fabcar, just waiting for him to email me back. i would upload a picture of his car but im at my limit of allowed uploads on here?

i just dont want the 997 turbo engine to blow due to oil starvation like the 993 gt2 engine did. everybody told me i wouldnt have a problem turning the engine round into the midengined position as it was dry sumped.
like to speak to this guy thats done, it rather than guessing again

thanks mark
