Default top seal

Hey Guys, we have a 2005 Boxster with the top sealing outside of the rear of the window frames. I believe it should seal in the groove of the top frame all the way. Is there something out of alignment or is this normal? It happens to both sides of the top.

Thanks for the help,
Ron

I had the exact same thing happen to my 2006. There's a piece of the top assembly that is made of rubber and stretches. I'm not sure exactly where it is, but when I called the dealer and described what my car was doing, they knew exactly what needed to be replaced. Over time, the rubber piece loses it's ability to stretch and needs to be replaced. The dealer installed larger pieces so they'd last longer. Had no issues after that. Mine was still under warranty when it was fixed, so I can't provide an estimate of the cost.

This is an easy repair. Straps in the convertible top need to be tightened down.

Look here (I don't know if there are descriptions elsewhere):

Thank you for the link. I moved the torx screw to the next slot in the elastic strip and now my top seals good.

Great to hear that you were able to fix it. I've also been a beneficiary of that article.
