Cayman S exhaust 987.1
Okay, I am down to two systems after looking at a whole bunch, both race and street.
I don't want a race exhaust as I ain't gonna be tracking it and from what I read, the race exhausts are quite loud in the cabin.
HP gains seem to be similar (I will do IPD plenum and computer flash from the dealer and I have researched that a lot too).
I have narrowed my search down to these two:
The FVD Brombacher Sound system:
http://www.fvd.us/us/en/Porsche-0/Ca...l__2x90mm.html
And the FabSpeed Maxflo system:
http://www.fabspeed.com/987-boxster-...xhaust-system/
My two main concerns are overall sound and cabin noise. The FVD makes a point of mention that you get no drone in the cockpit but the FabSpeed really makes no mention.
This is a street car not a track car.
Not very much difference in price but the FVD does use better stainless steel that most of the other systems, T316 versus T304 in most systems.
So, anyone drive any Caymans with either of these two systems and if so, what did you think of them?
Thanks for any answers.
Oh, a couple of pictures of it. I just got it in October:

FVD sound version is awesome. No drone at all. Fantastic sound and quality built. I am very pleased with the system. Slightly louder than stock if driving mild and comes to life at higher RPM
You might want to consider the FVD tune to compliment the HP gain.

If you are looking for an aftermarket system you should also check out the Remus Exhaust Systems. I installed one on my '08 Cayman S last year. Install was easy. Tailpipes look great as they are 2 separate pipes with large chrome tips. No drone. Almost no difference at idle and low rpm. As soon as you give it throttle is sounds like music to the ears! It has a real racecar sound to it and feels like it gives the car a little more 'hole shot' power on the exit of a turn at mid rpm. I absolutely love the system and would recommend taking a look at that Remus brand before you buy.

This is being done by my dealer as I live in the sticks and no private shops within 100 miles of me.
If I go FVD, I will have to buy it and have it shipped to them as they have no source. They do for the FabSpeed.

I had a Fabspeed for about a year - well-made, nice looking, and loved the sound at WOT and outside the car. However, in my Tiptronic, it did drone quite a bit when cruising at light throttle around 2500-3000 RPMs, e.g. going up a slight hill. Unfortunately, my daily commute had a couple of long stretches like that, and after trying several different things to decrease the drone, I gave up and sold it to someone else (who was very happy with it). I suppose I could have kept it in a lower gear to avoid the drone, but that seemed kind of pointless to me with a Tip. If you have a MT, it may be more bearable.
I now have a Carnewal-modified stock exhaust - not as pretty as the aftermarkets, but nice sound and no drone.
