Default anyone past break in period?

I am finally up to 1100 miles...

Driving me crazy to stay under 4200 rpms.

Has anyone gotten past the break in. If so, what is this car really like?

My manual says to stay under 4200rpm for the first 2000 miles / 3000 km. I picked the shorter one as my break-in threshold. Just a suggestion.

The car really comes alive after 4k rpm!! Winding to red line is remarkable!! Try to be patient, the best is to come.

My brother was tracking his with 1200 miles on it. Between us we have had over 15 Porsches...always drove them as they were meant to fairly quickly with no issues.

It is my understanding that for the ROW there is no such break-in period. Let the engine get to optimal temperature and then enjoy.

There also seems to be a school of thought that suggests that running the car through its rev range when new is important to ensure maximum piston ring seal / compression and that this natural process is actually hurt by artificially limiting RPMs.

i fully intended to allow my engine to reach proper operating temp and then run my car through the entire rev range as soon as I get it. What, not fully enjoy my car for 2000 miles. Frankly, I think that's nuts and as a US only suggestion seems like complete BS.

3000KM period but no rev limit, as you started (and the manuals) letting the engine reach normal operating temps (both oil and water) is important.

I believe every Porsche engine is put on a dyno still before installing. To each his own, but after several hundred miles the brakes, tires and transmission are ready.

6000k but haven't driven since the beginning of January. I think about her everyday. My spyder is some 8 stories underground and can't wait for the spring. Right after break-in I was exploring the rev-limiter which does work lol.

Nope.
That tradition stopped when they introduced the DFI engines. Now they test every nth engine to make sure the production process is still ok.

Last ones to be ran where the 997.2 GT3/RS Mezger engines if I recall correctly.

Have you been starting it and running it for 15-20 minutes every week or so, just to get the fluids circulating, or just have it hooked up to a trickle charger? I've been doing both.

Geez, my cars hit 5,000+ RPM on the way home from the dealer the day I buy them. Warm the car up properly and make sure you're comfortable with all the controls and then let it go. This break in stuff is liability nonsense.

I've taken brand new motos with 10 miles on them straight to track with no ill effects.

Why?

You get the fluids circulating, but you are not building up any pressure. Would never do that. Better to drive the car for 10 minutes than have it idle for 20.

I know that one

Japanese motorcycles engines are simply indestructible.
Rode a GSXR750 for 3 seasons in a row (15 days/year). One yearly maintenance and that was it. Didn't even consume oil. Never ever broke down.

1900 Miles on the odometer - another 100 and then oil change and a wheel alignment and then the real fun will start - observations so far:

- Engine is great - sound is intoxicating
- Breaks are fantastic and weight really helps
- Bose radio is a waste - too loud on long road trips
- shifter fantastic as is the steering
- Rev matching is great but should be a separate button - e.g. not only available in sport plus
- opening the back trunk is a pain with having to move the top open
- front lip scratching less an issue than I thought

Done a 600 mile roadtrip this weekend (with our son) - wind noise is quite painful on long highway driving >70 (with the top up) - will try to install one of the wind deflectors on the window triangle and see if this helps.

Anyone has been on track with their Spyder - planning some day's in March and appreciate any thoughts/experiences - thanks.
