Hi all, new forum member and recent Porsche convert. I will be in the market soon for a 981CS and am monitoring various threads as part of my "research".

My question for you here is, how would an interested party go about getting a PPI done on a CPO car located at Dealer "X"? Would nearby local Dealer "Y" be agreeable about inspecting a car from another Porsche dealer's inventory? Would Dealer X allow it to be driven locally there? Just curious how this would work.

Many thanks in advance.

I have several in my files and I still have had issues with undisclosed/Undiscovered paint work and other issues.

My one bad experience was from a dealer not to be mentioned. When I asked to see the CPO paperwork they brought me a photo copy which at the time I did not realize cut off the date of inspection and mileage. At the time I was focusing on what was checked and overall condition. the car was a year old low mileage and looked clean.

About a year later after the car had been garaged the entire time I purchased another car and moved this one outside. I noticed after the first heavy rain I had moisture in the car. It was due for its yearly tune up which was part of the package and when they told me it needed brakes I questioned how that could be with only a few thousand miles on it since i purchased this one year old car?

They quickly responded that I had put over 7000 miles on the car. I said not possible. Then they showed me the hard copy and the mileage. Apparently the car was CPO'd and then driven for 6 months and 5000 miles by the store manager.

I later discovered the car was in an accident and was poorly repaired by their shop. I found paperwork under the passenger seat. The frame had been tweaked and the windshield was leaking. They repaired it 5 times and it kept leaking.

I purchased the car based on the fact it was CPO'd thinking I would be safe. It took another year before we finally had it out and I threatened to sue. they purchased the car for most of its purchased value so I took the money and walked (after all I did have use of the car for 2 years and around 18k miles)

It isn't always about the the technician. Although do a search. There are many threads in the 993 and other forums where dealers did a PPI and later found sway bar linkages and other components held together by zip ties and equally scary stuff.

Always best to have a second set of eyes verify any used car you buy.

All I can give you is my experience:

When I mentioned having a PPI scheduled at a local indy shop, the dealer said they work with them all the time and that all I had to do was schedule it with the indy shop and they would call the dealer to pick up the car.

Welcome!

I just bought a car across the country, sight unseen, so maybe they felt they had to... however I simply told the salesperson once we were far enough down the path that we both knew I was serious, that I need a third party PPI at this shop done, and asked if they could bring the car there. It was 30 minutes away and took 2 hours for the PPI and they were fine with it.

If they want to sell the car, they'll do it...

Another drop to $50,900.00 on 6/5/17

When I made my offer, he said he would sell it to me for $50,500.00.

According to the guy, they own it for $50k, which was what I offered out the door.

I guess I'll keep watching it.

Do I understand you're $500 apart on a $50k car and you can't make a deal?

His counter offer with taxes and dealer fees was 54,600.00

Not at all. I know what I want to pay for it. If it doesn't happen I keep looking. Plenty of choices out there.
