Default true value of PTS

I am not happy about how Porsche handled PTS overall. In the 991.1 GT3, racing yellow was a PTS whereas GT4 was standard. Now chalk was just a special color where it could totally be a PTS for some other car. The graphite blue could be a PTS too. Why is chalk ($4000) more expensive than graphite blue ($800)? How about carmine red?

Now the PTS allocation for .2 GT3 has been pushed down to May next year. I may just go straight to a non PTS color. But my friend keeps yapping about how rare PTS is and it is good for the value. I don't know. What do you think? My dealer gives me till Monday to make up my mind, either non-PTS and take the December allocation with delivery in April, or go with PTS but the allocation is 2018 May with delivery in August.

I think worrying about the value of a car you sont even have yet is shortsighted. for me, pts has no value as i like the gt3 in white and have no desire for some off the wall color. someone else might not even want the car if its not smurf blue. bottom line, if you gotta have the color, wait snd pay for it. if not, get a regular one and enjoy the car earlier with some cash in your wallet

I also do not look at the future value of PTS if that is what you are asking. I would only get it if i truly desired a specific color that was not offered standard and could careless about the up-charge. Chances are by mid-next year this economy could be upside down so money thrown away if you are hoping to capitalize off its exclusivity

I am going to keep the car as long as I can, but somehow I just do not want to miss out the PTS opportunity if it is actually something of good value in the future... I actually like the chalk color better different shades of blue, but I feel the dealer really likes the blues somehow!

I am at $30k (or more) over for a PTS allocation so to me $42,830 is the value.

No offense to anyone but I say, "the hell with what others think" get what you really want. Everyone has a different opinion of true value.

I know right. I can't believe I am asking this too. It's like, hey what do you think of apple stock price next year. I know. I know. This is a stupid question. It's just that it's a first time ever I can finally have a PTS, but now I just don't know if it's worth it anymore. So just want to see what other enthusiasts think.

I get your point but RY was actually a €0 option on the 991.1 GT3.

I would check and see what PTS GT cars are being listed for on Porsche's preowned website. I was in the market for a .1 GT3 a year ago, and looked briefly at a CPO green (viper or signal?) 2015 GT3 with under 1k miles that was listed at $225k or so.

the viper green car traded at 170. I looked at it prior to my mexico blue one.

What is PTS worth to you? If you are asking, hoping that you can flip the car...there are only so many people that are going to be willing to buy a marked up flipped PTS car that is close to or over 200k, for a GT3.

You should buy what makes you happy, not the person you hope to flip it to. Know that you'll be looking to sell it when the GT2RS, GT3RS and 720s are coming out as well....plus guys will look at the 991.1 for 50k less and say why spend more?

People are flooding Porsche with PTS requests because they saw 991.1 GT3's and RS' being offered at stupid premiums for PTS colors... who would pay $100k over for a green RS? That will eventually sell below MSRP once the new RS comes out. Once enough people feel the burn, the hype will subside and PTS will go back to being about wanting a specific color vs. doing it with hopes to sell for $100k over what you paid.

You have lost your mind. What color by the way has you ready to part with so much cash?

Color is a secret. Not yet approved (anyone have a list with the new under feasibility to see if it is on there)? It has special meaning to me, but I doubt anyone would think it adds value. I don't care. I hoard not flip. I am a degenerate three pedal guy and when the GT3 was announced in 6MT I mobilized to get what I want. Maybe (probably) I fail, but it won't be for lack of planning, knowledge, effort, or money. When your expected ownership timeline is until death (and you have no family to worry about) or abject poverty, such things don't matter. And yes, I lost my mind. As I say, I don't suffer from my insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
