RIP Sloopy: Member, Client and Friend
The most difficult part of life is to go through it and meet great people only to see them leave so soon. Rennlist member "Sloopy" (https://rennlist.com/forums/members/123351-sloopy.html), first came to us back in 2007 with his Boxster S for some work. After having his DB9 previously done by the Dealer and not happy with how it turned out, he came to us with a stern attitude of making sure the results with us would be very different from the Dealer's. He (John) was extremely particular about his car and wanted to have things done right from the start. We would say that he is one of our most picky clients ever....stern, yet understandable, but appreciative of our efforts to earn his business. One car lead to another and in the 11 years we have known him, we have become close...not as a client, but as a friend.
He had a passion for Porsches and in 2015 bought his dream car - the GT3 (https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...leage-gt3.html). Everytime he dropped by, he would talk cars and his love for the 911. And best of all, he drove it! Yet, he took great care of his cars and would spend many weekends cleaning and detailing it....preparing it for its next drive. This was never going to be a garage queen for him and bravo for that. In the past few years, he fought hard with cancer. Though he is no longer with us, he won our hearts and respect for being a kind and giving person.....one who was genuine and passionate.....something that is seemingly lacking in this day and age. John....you will be dearly missed.
Safe travels my friend....

Sad to hear, too much of this lately. A client of my dealer also recently passed away after a similar battle and bought his dream car to enjoy his last year. Live life to the fullest every day!
