Looks like the 'GT version' of the new vette will crack 800hp before Porsche hits 600. Hopefully the competition will keep everyone on their toes and prices somewhat attainable!

I am guessing to most on here, no. The Porsche target market and the Corvette one are two separate ones. I am looking for the refinement, engineering and build quality that the Germans can offer.

However, I do think that it may help with dealers charging over sticker for 981 GT4's and 991.2 GT3's year after they come out. Hopefully it keeps the market a bit more reasonable and allows these cars to not get flipped/purchased only with the hopes of making a profit.

I cant help but think at the the very least, a (relatively) reasonably priced 800HP C8 will put huge pressure on many of the more traditional high HP mid engine offerings. May the better question to ask is:

How much does brand image / loyalty vs straight out performance play a role?

tired of the vette threads on this forum. Who the bleep cares. Couldn’t imagine owning another vet. Owned one once...got rid of it fast and did not look back. Complete crap quality.

It will be interesting to see how well they perform with the new setup and HP. To answer your question, I don't think it will make most think twice, due to the same answers that have been given over time. The power differential at 750 with the current ZR1 is substantial and has existed for some time with their higher HP variants. I sold my Huracan and then took my time finding an RS. There was no other car that interested me in the 175-200 range. It was simply a matter of finding an RS as close to the spec that I would have ordered. I found when I constantly chased the fastest newer car it didn't make me happier, it only satisfied having the latest model. For my taste, Porsche provides an ultimate car that meets/exceeds so many expectations, and just happens to fit my lane perfectly.

U be surprised, it's converging.
I know many multiple Ferrari and porsche owners, they all keep a vette to abuse starting from C6.
the build quality of vette is improving and porsche is either steady or degrading, I fear.....

It might not be a bad thing if the vette hurt GT sales.

Or help raise the level of performance/value one can get from a GT Car. IMO, the GT2RS... jumped the shark... and is way to much money for a 'porsche GT car'.. so this if anything will apply pressure on delivering more value/quality with the next rounds of GT cars.

Best Regards,
Dave

Oh I agree with you John. Having one in addition to your Porsche's is a great move, especially if you want something to track, take to the store, not have to think about and have relatively cheap maintenance. The C7 was the first Corvette where I really started thinking that the quality was improving, but in my experience the 991 was still slightly higher quality. No idea what the quality on the 992 is going to be like as I have not been around one yet.

I don't think i could choose a Vette over a GT3/RS, but as a second toy they are pretty cool. I am really not comparing the two as much as i am appreciating the differences. Two very different approaches to speed.

Until ADM is outlawed, supply and demand will never end this vicious capitalistic cycle.

991 GT models brought culture change at Porsche where it's about making as many as they can sell. That's a good thing for people to experience and enjoy their products, not so for investors / flippers.

The only people making money apart from VAG group are their dealership franchisees, it's the nature of the beast preying on our desires.

Who likes waiting especially when one can afford not to?

Yep and you can bet they will make plenty for all that want them unlike the BS GT games Porsche plays. That car will absolutely attract a few P guys that are tired of all the BS. I for one can’t wait to see and drive one.

I absolutely will consider another Corvette. I bought my C7 five years ago and have enjoyed it immensely. It's a totally different experience from my 6GT3 and my 2018 GT3. Comfortable on the street and very capable at the track. The car has 20000 miles and feels as tight as when delivered which is impressive for a convertible. The dealer is less than a mile from my house and Mobil 1 oil changes are $50. The thrum of the V8 (sounds like a fat man gargling) is just as entertaining as the GT3's shriek at 8500 rpm. I've had no quality or service issues on the C7. For me it is easy to enthusiastically support both marques as they are both satisfying in different ways.

NO

My 2016RS has 500hp...more than enough for me. Maybe the best car I have ever owned.

My next car will be a Porsche.

After that car another Porsche. Don't want to play games with dealer use cars.com plenty of great used Porsche GT cars. 22k miles on my RS and I still love it.

I would rather leave Corvettes on another forum...zero interest.
