DD- Macan Turbo vs AMG GLC 63s Coupe
Thanks for all the previous input- last query, I promise. What do you guys think about a new 2020 Macan Turbo vs GLC 63s Coupe as a DD in the Chicago suburbs for 70% highway / 30% local use? Macan is about $10K more and down 70 hp and that ridiculous turbo V8 of the AMG-

I have a Macan S with Cobb tune as a daily and I love it... it drives so much sportier than any other SUV I've driven to date so would certainly recommend one. That said the GLC 63S is an absolute beast with that engine, aside from the insane depreciation on AMGs I find it highly compelling and would love to drive one.
If it was my money though I think I'd still end up with a Macan... still plenty of power but certainly more handling precision/finesse than the brute force of the AMG.

Driven both, and got the GLC 63 for my wife the engine is worth the price of admission. All wheel drive it’s a beast, Porsche better electronics in my view but that wasn’t too important on how we use the car. It’s a commuter that, but really fun to drive first Merc we’ve purchased. Can’t get the keys out of her hand. It’s a car they all depreciate.

I've had a Macan loaner before albeit not the turbo. From my limited knowledge and experience. I most likely would go with the AMG. I'm sorta biased as I've had 7 AMG's over the years. They've all been great cars.

A friend who has the GLC63 (non-coupe) said it's one of the most fun cars he's owned, coming from a guy with a garage we'd all envy. Stuffing a TT V8 in there is insane and almost worth it by itself. I think the front end is getting a redesign for 2020 so might be some good deals on 19s.

The Macan Turbo may be better than the GLC 63s from an objective standpoint ie steering, suspension, etc but its similar to comparing the M3 to the C63s or RS3; the M3 is a “better” drivers car but the C63 (and RS3) has a truly memorable engine are in many ways more chuckable, “fun” and sound better even though the M3 would win out on a track. Looking forward to test driving the GLC 63s next week.

The Macan is better built... in other words the interior materials and how everything feels more solid and no rattles creeks etc.
Back in November 2017 my wife got a AMG C63. Great engine but transmission and over all car build quality is not up to Porsche standards. We also looked at the AMG GLC's too. Lots of interior panel flex and do forth. The C63S didn't last but a year and we got rid of it. Handling was no where near as good as the Panamera S andxGTS she had before so she is happier and in a new Panamera GTS.
We were disappointed in Mercedes considering what we are use to.

Loved our Macan Turbo. Flawless ownership experience - nothing ever broke, and it's about as fun as SUVs get. Only complaint is the fuel tank is really small and it gets terrible gas mileage, so you'll be at the pump frequently.

Another datapoint: My wife had a Macan S we ordered and I had a c63s.
The Macan is one of the best cars we've ever owned. It was engaging, reliable, comfortable. 50k+ miles on it when we sold and nothing ever broke.
C63S had a GREAT engine but that's about in. One trick pony. It did other things ok. It was fun on test drives but became boring over time. It lasted a little over a year before I sold it (admission: I have terrible car ADD).
If I was choosing one as a DD, it would be hands down the Macan GTS or Turbo.
