Default Speedster Numbers

Curious if there is any interest in putting together a list of members Speedster Build Number and Heritage / Non Heritage? The first cars have just started to roll in to Oz. Also, does anyone know whether the number on the plaque (xxxx/1948) relates to any other number on the car (ie VIN / Engine No etc).

I am also assuming that the plaque number does not relate to when the car was built in the production line?

Watching on the gram, the later cars seem to have higher numbers, but I can’t find and do not believe there is any link to the VIN.

unlike, say North American Land Rover Defenders, where the plaque numbers were (mostly) sequential.

Seems like the numbers are all over the place. Two just arrived in Sydney, 471 apart.

Does anyone know what number is the first car? I am assuming the handful of 0000 cars were the press / prototypes / PR car’s and the first customer car is 0001 so that the last car would be No. 1948? Where would car No. 0001 go to?

I’m interested to know if they quietly never actually made the full production run.

There is no relation between the VIN and the limitation number and cars are not build completely in VIN order. In North America car vins range from 172066 to 172803 which would be around 738 cars and there are over 610 cars built. Some missing vins and/or not finished custom tailoring yet?

I'm sure they built all of them even if some were dealer spec'ed cars.

As best as I can tell, all 1948 have been made but I am at the Factory at the end of Feb so will try and find out.
