Default My experience with Merit Partners

I am not the type to review anything but I felt the urge to write a little about Merit Partners. I am a track enthusiast and after much research, for reasons I do not have to explain here, I decided to purchase a 991.1 GT3RS. After looking for a while I came across the perfect car for me at Merit Partners in Atlanta. I live in D.C. and have never purchased a car without seeing it I person so my plan was to get as much info as possible then go to Atlanta, inspect/drive the car, purchase it if everything is satisfactory and drive it back with a detour through the tail of the dragon. I called Merit and Burt Strange called me back quickly. Burt literally spent an hour on the phone with me talking about the car and our shared love of the track. Burt knew the car inside and out as he helped the prior owner purchase it new and he gave me every detail. Burt is a true Porsche enthusiast and he really helped me understand everything about the car. The next thing that he did was to email me all of the service records and arrange for a PPI from the local Porsche dealer. Burt spent more time with me on the phone answering questions and getting me certain specifics about the car until I was ready to go. He never rushed or pressured me and was always prompt and willing to get whatever I needed.

Once I had everything I decided to put down a deposit and plan my trip to Atlanta, however COVID-19 had a different plan for me. My timing was terrible. When I first called Burt the virus was barely in the news but when I decided to go look at the car the craziness was beginning and going through the Atlanta airport didn’t seem smart. I talked to Burt who thought shipping was the best option and he was confident that I would be happy with the car, so much so that if not he would give me a refund. I decided to move forward with that plan. I then got a call from Jonathan Hull who explained that Burt had a family issue to take care of and that he would finalize everything. Jonathan had the car detailed and the tint removed per my request. Jonathan then had it shipped and a few days later I had the biggest smile on my face when it showed up. I was very happy with the car especially after taking it to my local shop where it checked out in perfect condition.

Burt and Jonathan didn’t stop there. They have followed up with me multiple times and have always answered any questions promptly. True professionals who made a difficult situation run smoothly. I feel like I have two friends in Atlanta who I will meet when I go to Road Atlanta hopefully soon.

Great post. Good car news is hard to come by these days, and it sounds like Merit Partners really did well. Post a picture of your car, and congratulations.

OP: Congrats on the new car and definitely post some pics. Hope you make it to Road Atlanta soon! If it’s your first time, you’re in for a great experience in that car at that track.

No surprise on your experience with Merit. They are the best of the best.

Honestly, these guys are some of the BEST there are in the specialist sportscar game...they are currently and beyond all the call of duty storing my Singer there until I can get there to do a little filming with them, they are BEYOND next level hospitality and stand behind their customers in some pretty amazing ways. Totally not shocked you had a great experience with them!

Adding my completely biased opinion here. I've known Burt & Jonathan for 10 years or more, and their motto has always been "its about the people not the cars".. and this mindset transfers to everything they do. Aside from being real car enthusiasts, they just really put their heart and honest energy into their business and in every single interaction they have. I'm working them currently on Hypercar Invitstional 2, and my stated goal for this is to make sure that this fantastic little specialty car company out of Atlanta, GA gets the worldwide recognition it deserves. good times, bad times, doesn't matter, the values which Merit Partners serve their customers are universal and will endure and thrive in any market.

Great to hear - always worth it to buy from a trusted source when you are particular about the car you are buying and the condition. There aren’t many people that I would want to do a sight unseen transaction with but from everything I have heard, they would be one of them.

I spoke to Burt about a 993. Very honest with me and took a long time on the phone. He knew the car extremely well. I did not purchase the vehicle due to the carfax, but I would never hesitate buying from Merit Partners.

Jonathan was amazing, we were close on a car, ultimately missed it by a day or two but can guarantee if it was a week earlier there would have been a sale. Kool thing was, even though I didn't buy the gt2rs from them, he still invested time and built the relationship. Solid people, one of only a couple groups I would deal with.

Congrats on your new RS! Merit is the best of the best. I am fortunate to live locally, bought/sold three cars from them over the years, and now have service work done there as well. They have assembled a few high quality guys there that really compliment/complete the car buying/selling experience.

I can concur: two big thumbs up for them

They go the extra mile, are knowledgeable and passionate about their cars. They also know what they don't know. And it doesn't hurt that they are fun guys to deal with.

I just met those guys casually during the Smokies and have just been impressed all the way around.
We have not done business yet, but they were the first on my mind.

Besides the impressive offerings and job they do, it remains that you buy sellers, not cars.

I’ve also heard great things about them.

Do they purchase cars outright from sellers or consign them?
