The wealth didn't disappear into thin air - it was transferred. Someone else now has it. Maybe they like cars too
I am in the Oil and Gas business- you are correct Sir

Your friend is cheap and should go buy a .1 if he can't afford a .2. case closed. This is a manual .2 GT3 many people want those.

I went thru the same process as I was going thru trying to find 991.2 GT3. I just took delivery of Graphite Blue couple of weeks ago. Many dealers arent budging but hard to find some of the more conservative colors. Several Birch Green and Acid Greens out there that have been sitting for some time. As others said, the more popular colors like Chalk get snatched up pretty quickly. I was looking at a Signal Yellow that had sat at the dealer for 1 year!!!

Buyers have to sit tight and just wait for the one they want, it will happen.

Agree with the first part of this statement but the question is what do you do when “the one” presents itself...ie if you are looking for a loaded graphite blue or signal yellow low mile example with pccbs, LWBS, manual, full leather- do you offer $10K back of a reasonable ask and risk someone else buying it and not seeing another one like it again for months or do you buy it and enjoy it? In reference to the OP- i’m in favor of the latter-

absolutely right! It’s funny that you mention those two colors (GBM and Signal Yellow). Because those were the exact two cars I was looking at. Both fully loaded but my GBM has extended leather package and the color is amazing. I offere 5K off of the asking and he was not having anything to do with it so I gave him asking price right off the bat. Although it wasn’t a dealer and price was reasonable bottom line is when you are paying north of 140-150, that 10k won’t make a difference later but you will always say “what if.......”

past me wishes I had taken this advice. Dollars are interchangeable. The perfect spec not so much.

Saw the listing for your Graphite Blue GT3 when it was a private party listing and then a couple of weeks later from a NE dealer...beautiful car, great build. If only it was a local car...congrats on the acquisition! The price was more than reasonable- if you had held your ground at $5K under ask it would have sold and you would be berating yourself today for not pulling the trigger (pardon the psychoanalysis

Truer words have never been spoken. I spent 3 months going back and forth with a dealer on my dream color GT3 last year -- PTS sports classic grey. Car disappeared from dealer's website one day and I was crushed. Dealer claimed they had sold it. Kept on kicking myself for holding out.

The car showed up two weeks later on a different dealer's site. Closed the deal within a matter of days. While second dealer was more reasonable than the first, I wasn't going to let my unicorn get away for the second time.

With the huge market bubble / disconnect with reality....you might also be smart to be patient

Been watching the used market for quite some time now. That spec with 5000+ miles would be listed somewhere between 168-172 by a dealer at CPO. If a touring it would be listed at 10-15K over MSRP. If it is a non-dealer used car sales place it would be listed for about 1000-2000 under its MSRP (so 178-180K I'm guessing - oh yeah you said 180 MSRP so about right) as to them its a gold mine. If PDK less money than Manual. Chalk doesn't sit long. I missed out on 2 of them because won't buy unless I can physically see the car and they both sold within a week of being listed...
