Default Fire Extinguisher question?

Looking to mount a FE under the front passenger seat. Already checked with my Porsche dealer and they say Porsche has stopped selling the optioned kit as an accessory for my car. From looking around all I have found is Rennline which looks like they have a good mounting frame for the CF buckets along with a race approved quick disconnect mount that looks well engineered. At this point I am planning to buy these units as I have not seen any alternatives. My question is specifically about FE size, is the 1.4 lb sufficient or should I go for the 2.5 lb.? I am leaning towards the halotron agent FE. Does anyone know which size came with the FE original option on the 991.2 GT RS cars?

I'm pretty sure you want the 2.5 pounds. I installed the Safecraft PB2 (2.5 pounds) in my Huracan. Also Halotron has half the efficiency of the gas in the PB2 (Halon 1211). SafeCraft makes units for Aviation, Marine and Motorsports. I spent some time looking into this on Aviation and Motorsports forums. It's not cheap but worth it. I also tried to get the factory equipment from the dealer and it's nearly impossible as they don't ship it to the US if the car didn't come equipped with it. I need to order this same setup for my RS and install it. Just haven't done it yet.

Thanx for the detailed reply and I also appreciate the pics...and your Huracan looks sweet. I just placed my order for the 2.5 lb.PB2 red safecraft, CF seat bracket and quick disconnect mount. Thank you again for your input.

I could have used one when I was a kid when after rebuilding my '67 Pontiac LeMans High Output 326 we were towing the car with hood off and me hanging in the engine bay trying to adjust the distributor.to get the car to start and I had the distributor in 180 degrees off and the resultant back fire with a flooded carb gave me a few singed eyebrows, lol...like I said I was a 16 year old boy so was winging it, lol. But I have a rather larger investment now and I believe you need FE's even for most DE's so wanted to get a solid setup. My GT car came perfectly spec'd for me sans the FE option so am remedying that.

Went with the Rennline EZ Adjust mount - well designed, easy to install.

HalGuard Clean Agent 2.5

And used the standard mount. Although the $275 Rennline quick release would be very nice.
