Default Adding lightness to a GT2 RS?

Hey Gents, I own a 2019 GT2 RS WP car with mag wheels. If I was wanting to throw some money at the car for lightening, any ideas what the most effective/cost effective parts would be? The first on my list would probably be the Clubsport CF doors.

I would say a Lithium battery is the best bang for the bucks (not the Porsche branded one - maybe Antigravity). Next maybe some lightweight exhaust pieces.

Be careful with CF doors - I think they are meant to be used with a roll cage for safety...

Battery is your best bang for buck, the CS carbon doors are delicate, very expensive and nearly impossible to source. If you're looking at performance, i would speak to dundon and focus on suspension and potentially some added aero. If you are ok with extremely loud cars, the dundon exhaust is likely amazing as it saves 20lbs+ and provides a big HP boost with added tune.

That said, ive actually added weight, 55lbs for the 1-piece roll-cage and 6-points. The surface transforms carbon ceramic rotors are slightly lighter too but not much to speak about.

I hate dealing with warranty denials and the car is already tons of fun on the track. Many tracks have sound limitations and i hate the sound of extremely loud cars in general. I can barely have a conversation at 65mph in the gt2 so i cant imagine an aftermarket exhaust. Furthermore, do i need more HP at the track or street, not even slightly. I could use more aero, smidge lighter, better suspension... that would be my target once warranty is done, Feb '23. I look forward to this time too as it lets me learn the car more over the next couple years but then i will do the full MC kit from Dundon, lightweight battery, and potentially some increased aero.

Very light, high HP car, grab the McLaren 765, amazing in so many ways but still cant beat the ability to drive the RS to the track and have minimal maintenance.

As others have said I would avoid CF doors.

Instead, I would simply remove the carpeting inside the car, which would probably save you more weight than adding CF doors.

Of course, LI batteries are a no-brainer

  1. 19" Mg wheels
  2. Li-Ion Antigravity battery
  3. Delete Cats
  4. Titanium exhaust
  5. Empty the windshield washer reservoir
  6. Remove tools (CL, tire inflator, tire sealant, and the covers)
  7. Floor mats out
  8. The carpet is already super light in the GT2RS and .2 GT3RS, no need

Even in Clubsport form, the car is heavy.

Unless you're a lightweight, consider losing a few pounds... lol but true.

Thanks, that is very well said...nothing there I can disagree with.

That always goes unsaid, haha, but in my case I am F1 driver sized so no issues there.

Not going that serious, I mainly just enjoy "putting" around my barrier island with wifey in the passenger seat.

The GT2 RS exhaust is full titanium and I think the battery is also lithium Ion. I do like the idea of deleting the cats, they are never helpful, especially in Turbo cars...I would assume that would require a new exhaust and dealing with the CEL codes that would be thrown. Perhaps something to consider post warranty.

Very few, if any, gt2rs have the lithium battery... I've never seen one. There are some gt3rs I've seen that have, they were problematic and incredibly overpriced. I guess cheap, compared to some lightweight options, lol. Antigravity is the way to go,

Why trying to lighten? Have you had on track yet?
