PDK vs Manual Reflection

It's all about personal choice, obviously. The OP is asking for reflections on that choice. Here's mine. after 3 years of ownership.
I ordered the car specifically with PDK as this was to be a 50/50 track/street car. On the track, I have no regrets and am absolutely in love with the PDK. Always in the sweet spot, so smooth it can upshift mid-corner without upsetting the car, so quick I can catch manual cars on the straights when they shift, so seamless I can worry about braking points and turn in and a whole slew of other things without having to think of the perfect gear to be in or worry about the "money shift". On the streets, yes, there is a compromise. There is something so engaging about the clutch and throwing that lever that makes driving a Porsche on the street so much fun. The paddles and manual mode just don't cut it. You will never engage the full performance capacity of the GT3 on the street, so there would be no need to engage the full capacity of the car with a PDK. After 3 years of GT3 PDK ownership, if I were to buy the next generation GT3 for track and street use, I will order it again with the PDK transmission. However, if I were to buy a GT3 and use it only for the street, I would order it with a manual. But, then again, if I were to buy a Porsche for only street use, it wouldn't be a GT3.

This sums it up well
Just getting back to the original post and question.

After dailying a manual for several years in couple cars...I chose pdk for the GT3. I don't expect to get bored with it. My car ADD has been fading away.

The question is pretty subjective so the responses will be as well- it is all about how you use the car. For me, I had a 2018 GT3 Winged MT6 and a 2017 TTS PDK at the same time. Both amazing cars. while I had both, I rarely took the TTS out for a sheer driving experience (i.e., back roads, s-turns, etc.). I always took the GT3 for that and used the TTS any time my wife was in the car (i.e., dinner, other DD). We wanted to go down to one 911. I sold my GT3 and kept the TTS because I was the only person in the household that could drive a stick. Regretted my decision the minute after I made it. So, got her a Macan GTS, sold the TTS and bought a GT3T (obviously MT6) and am out and about ever since. The GT3T with an MT6 is just way too much fun.
As an aside, not looking to convert anyone. Just responding to the initial request for opinions.
My $.02 (which may not be applicable to anyone else in the world).
Enjoy,
G.

a question with 2 correct answers.
I have both manual and PDK 911s and love to drive them all.
But if I can only keep one 911, it has to be manual.

Buys GT3
Doesn’t get manual because traffic
drives pdk car 1800 miles per year
what traffic?
Must not exercise
Just lazy
If I wanna push buttons to drive I’ll play forza
21 months of ownership 16k miles 8 months not driven in 2 winters. Wouldn’t have it any other way. You’re cars faster..... yippieeeee
my worthless .2c

For 911 GT3 manual all the way for me.
Reasons are:
1) the best manual among car manufacturers
2) manual is so fun to drive
3) PDK is faster on a racetrack but you just don’t buy road legal car exclusively for a racetrack. Racing car is needed for that purpose.
4) manual ensures a scratch/damage free life for the rims and bumpers for the car as wife can’t drive manual
5) car with manual is safer to drive as to get entertained you don’t need to drive it at crazy speed on the back roads. PDK doesn’t deliver that level of thrill, thus you have to push the car to higher speed to get entertained.
I had 911 Turbo S with PDK. Before buying GT3 I testdrove GT3 with both transmissions and took manual without any hesitation. Sold the turbo s and never looked back.

Interesting cross-shopping gt3 and TT, they kinda complement each other...

This. Purposefully got out of a 991 manual to get into a pdk for more versatility in this urban jungle. I have other manuals, so I don’t yearn for one. It’s really surprising how daily able the 991 gt3’s are.

Interesting reads thus far, no real regrets from posters which makes sense as the car is outstanding with either tranny. Seems the minority who have switched have gone mostly from PDK -> manual with some from MT -> PDK.
Agreed on PDK for daily use principles and safety against user error and manual for overall driving safety (no distractions) and engagement for lower speed driving

Race Car
Technically I think a lot of people went from PDK to manual because the entire .1 range (much to the chagrin of many) was PDK. For four years or so PDK was the only game in town.

Depends on application:
- daily driver = PDK
- mountains = MT
- track = PDK-S
the hard thing is reconciling how much I wish I could apply myself versus actually apply. With little chance to daily nor mountains, I’m mainly track so PDK-S for me
