PDK vs Manual Reflection

PDK vs Manual Reflection
For those with a touring / regular gt3, now that it's been 3-4 years of ownership: has your preference on PDK or Manual changed? Curious to hear thoughts after now more time with car.
Better than a value thread in my mind..=).

Totally a personal preference. I had a ‘16 and ‘19 RS and I enjoy driving my manual more. Don’t get me wrong, the PDK is probably the best transmission on earth, but for my use it’s more fun to do the shifting myself. Others will have a different opinion which they are entitled to.

I've driven Corvettes with a manual for over 20 years and I think it's hard to compare them with a PDK or P manual. Since this is my first Porsche. I made the choice of a 2015 GT3 and the PDK with it's reputation I have no regrets. Manuals are nice but because I'm getting older I kind of like having the advantage of hitting the gears so fast without a miss.

I had a 2018 GT3 PDK put 6k miles on it. I now have a 2019 Touring with 13k and I much prefer the manual for the street. It is much more entertaining especially when driving at normal speeds. I heel and toe almost every down shift!

if i wanted pdk there are, in my opinion, better cars that purpose built 2 seaters with 8 cylinders or more. i came from a 458 and the main reason for me to switch was manual.

Said this in another thread. I’ve owned 3 PDK 991 GT cars and now the touring. Manual is far more fun on the road. But if I was going to track it regularly, I’d want a PDK.

Since I use these predominantly on the track I prefer PDK. Actually...as I'm getting older I'd hate to drive in traffic with a manual also.

Let's see. 10 GT3 to 15 GT3 to 16 GT4 to to 18 GT3 manual to 18 GT3 PDK. I'm confused.🤣

3rd Porsche in less than 3 years, first manual. Was initially mesmerized by PDK’s, ended up getting bored with them. Love my manual GT3.

Manual all the way for me. Each gear change has a unique feel and personality that cannot be replicated by PDK. The simplicity of the 6MT is also preferable when the PDK, durable as it is, will fail in the long term.

Pretty close to a value thread. PDK suits my needs and moods for an occasional car I drive in light traffic. Sometimes I let my wife drive just to enjoy the sounds without having to pay attention. The needs and preferences of others undoubtedly differ.

In this case, it's owners asking each other and not prospective buyers. Not parting with my cars regardless

Love the manual for a weekend/fun car; gets really old in traffic and if being used regularly... for overall versatility, whether picking up a phone call, driving super-fast and or in traffic, nothing beats PDK.. no missed shifts, no money shifts and easy to buy and sell without worrying about previous owner/dme report. Many benefits to PDK, still thankful Porsche offers manual. I quite enjoy the manual in the F430 but honestly the F1 was also mental and in many ways more wild fun if less involving. Each has its own benefits/drawbacks, has to be an individual choice based on use conditions...

My GT2 is my first PDK and I am extremely impressed. It is a real engineering masterpiece; when in auto it is always in the right gear and when in manual you get to stay involved. I absolutely love my GT2 with the PDK. Having said that, had my car been offered with an MT option I would have moved heaven and earth to have gotten one. 700 HP in a TT RWD 911 RS car with an MT? Definitely.

I prefer the PDK. Will eventually buy a new GT4 and it will be PDK. I can't wait to see how the GT4 performs with PDK on the track. I fully expect the resale to be negatively impacted but still prefer the PDK.
