Making some progress but going very slow and doing research along the way, Talked to a couple guys in Miami that have done multiple roll bars in GT2/3 RS cars and both said that most they see, even though they are U.S. cars have the sportclub front roll bar support there, but when I pulled my carpet up mine did not. I purchased the MR front braces so I have decided to use them rather the source the parts and weld to get an exact SC match. The MR braces look well engineered and as one would expect from MR, should definitely do the job. Also I learned how the factory cuts the carpets and how they have to trim the plastic behind the leather rear interior quarter panels. The quarter panels come with a curved line indicating where to cut, which is exactly what the factory does when they install a clubsport roll bar. The cut material is behind the leather so will not be seen. Here are a few pics. The red arrow is the rear interior quarter panel I am referring to. If you look closely at the two pics showing the plastic backside of said quarter panels you will see the line that Porsche molds in to mark the area to be cut away. Two other pics show the MR braces installed. I bought an automotive plastics/carpet hot knife trimming kit that I am planning to use to trim the plastic pieces and am still trying to decide if I will try to slice the carpet with it or a regular dagger like knife with some teeth on it. I was told you just want to poke the knife through and make a small slicing cut (only about 2 inches in the back and just slightly bigger in the front. I am trying to find some plastic body panels and carpet to test on...will probably take a ride to one of the salvage yards in the area and see what I can find. Not in any big hurry, but looks like I will probably be done in four or five more days. More pics to follow

Thanx, I am aware of that but I already have the measurements on where and how to cut and I expect I can do as good or better job then the factory....we are after all talking cutting carpets not rocket science here. Having said that, the factory carpets are on my radar. Again, thanx for your informative reply

NP...That will be a sweet addition to a Touring and damn rare. The roll bar itself is light as a feather (I believe it weighs ~11 lbs)...the box mine came in weighed more than the bar itself and the finish is otherworldly. Reminds me of some of the aerospace Ti I have seen roll through our fabrication labs. Heggman did a hell of a job with the new batch.

Thanks Dude I drive the GT car more then I probably intend to or that my posts indicate. When I get my *** in her it is awfully hard to not keep driving. I bought her with ~3.5K miles and have put over a thousand miles on her in the past 11 months. Not much mileage for a DD car but for a GT2 it is probably near or above average. As for tearing a 911 apart...well it's not exactly rocket science or top secret stealth F plane technology so I feel pretty comfortable.
Thanks, I got mine form a 3rd party that had access to the latest small batch that Porsche ordered up (I paid for mine back in October) but have since learned that Manthey Racing also now has them for sale, from I would venture to guess the same small batch that Porsche ordered. The Porsche order was filled by Heggemann AG, who specializes in Aerospace Ti manufacturing. Bar came with Porsche part number.
And the structural reinforcement to support the bracket?.. Otherwise it is not to original manufacturing standards. I believe some (unavailable) structural plates have to be welded in, and these were omitted for the US market? If the brackets are an aftermarket solution, they are not to original manufacturing standard and may not have been subjected to "rigorous" OEM safety standards in the event of the unthinkable rollover. If Manthey provided, what was their TUV testing and are they approved for the US market?

Thanks...here are a couple pics of the MR brackets. As you said they are the key to installing a factory bar into a non SC car. They are quite robust, I did not weigh them but they are not light and passed my eye ball test for looking like they would do the job and might very well spread the torque over a larger area than the factory SC setup.
