Never owned a GT3 but plenty of RS's. My .1 RS was way more superior in terms of feel and quality compared to my high spec .2 RS.

If I was looking for another car, it would be hands down .1 RS. Just the solid feel of that car on both road and track made it feel so good compared to .2

Interesting. So the finger follower issue carried on through into the G engines? You don't mention is this was the reason your motor was replaced.
BTW...I also have a 2016 (Dec 2015 production). I thought I had the "final" G6 engine but perhaps not. In any case I have the 10/120K warranty on the motor so I'll continue to drive the car as it was meant to be driven :-)

Somebody else will have to confirm this but I'm 90% sure that no GT3 ever came from the factory with a G6 engine. I believe (again, someone else here will know better than I do) that the G6 engine only exists as a replacement to cars that have had their engines let go. I

A Miami blue just sold on BAT for $210K. I know BAT has inflated prices but its inline with what dealers are asking for and that’s with more and more 992’s being put up for sale.

That BAT sale also generated a post on the Rennlist Canada forum. That’s over $267k CAD for a car with more miles than mine. That is insane. The ADMs on the 992 GT3 have made the 991.2 GT3 prices rise in association. After hearing about the brakes/glass issues on the 992, I’m even more convinced the 991.2 is a better car.

"worth" is VERY subjective. I assure you EVERY person that has had a .1 and now a .2 will say yes. They want to justify their spend.

A .1 is a perfectly fun and great car. Everyone saying "google finger followers" has zero clue. They are the exception not the rule. Do a little research and avoid the 14's. (E motor) and you will be fine. We drove our 15 to almost 30k miles with zero issues and you still have plenty of years left on the extended motor warranty but if the car has over 10K miles and hasn't had an issue yet your chances are low.

Regarding manual. If that is a wish then wait for a .2 and get what you want. You will regret the decision of going PDK if manual is your thing.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! I think I've decided to look for a 991.1 Paint to Sample GT3 and go that direction. If anyone knows of one or has one they are looking to sell PM me with details!

I'm assuming posting a WTB in the big thread of for sale GT3's is forbidden so i'll just post a WTB in marketplace instead.

or dont skip the 2014 and get your best bang for buck. You’ll be under warranty through 2024 at least, and can still extend it.
I did just that, drove the hell out of it (track and street) for over 2 years, and my motor was replaced with a G6 in September. The new motor is noticeably smoother and quieter (in a good way).

My 2015 991.1 GT3 F03048 engine went at 36k miles this past summer.
It has since been replaced with a G61792 engine.

I was in a similar position 6 months ago... sold my high HP Nissan GTR that I owned for the last 6 years to get a car I had been dreaming about since it was announced in 2017. Market was already climbing by the time I was ready to purchase, so I was considering "settling" for a .1 or a 718 GT4. But I knew I'd be looking at .2's again in 6 months had I gotten either of them. They just weren't THE car I had my sights set on for the last 4.5 years. So I bit the bullet and went for a manual .2 and honestly have no regrets. What, a, car. My advice, scrape the ol' barrel if you have to and get the one you really want.

Totally agree. I watch people settle for less than they want, and then can NEVER afford what they actually want because of all the money they wasted settling in the meantime.

Coming out of CGTS 4.0 (loved the car, but it just left me wanting more raw more power), I was recently in the market for a GT3. Initially shopped .2's because of the 4.0, but ended up buying a 15 7k mile PTS .1. Two biggest reasons were the looks. I think the 991.1 looks much better, really a timeless design IMO. The .2 is still obviously beautiful, but it's not even close to the .1 in cohesive design flow. Didn't care for the .2 "sharky" front end and black plastics bits. The other big reason is the price delta. ~$50k not worth it IMO, for 50k I could buy a G6 motor myself.

My .1 has 3.5 years of factory engine warranty remaining, which is basically a new 4 year factory warranty and the drive is more raw/engaging and just special. Love all the mechanical noises and rumbles. I also think the scream from 8-9 in the .1 is just more visceral. They both scream like no other, but the .1 gets the nod in my book. I think the noticeably louder induction noise in .2 somewhat detracts or muddles the mechanical cescendo that is better in the .1. The .2 is noticeably more refined, but the .2 tire/road noise is MUCH louder, which I didn't care for. I also actually appreciate the low tech of the .1 vs. .2, makes it feel more classic/special. YMMV.

If you watch this video comparing the detailed differences between the 991.1 and 991.2 GT3, you will see that there are many more minor improvements in the 991.2 beyond the engine, which I guess is to be expected in the newer car but which should also be factored into the price difference.

Quick Reply: 991.2 GT3 really worth $50k more?
