Default Porsche Story

Sorry if I bore many of you, but sure many can relate. I drive my Speedster a fair amount, and almost sold it 450k nuts. I’ve had the car for close to 2 years, and it’s the 2nd longest Porsche I’ve owned ………only 6 owned and many of you owned that in a few years.

1 2013 911 S
2 2015 GT3
3 2016 GT3 RS
4 2016 Boxter Spyder
5 2019 GT3 RS
6 2019 Speedster

Now that’s the sum of the story, car was pretty dirty in the garage so I said let me wash the damn thing. There’s where it hit me, ummm I really love driving this car and why did I almost sell it?? Unthinkable right, but I found my self saying I always want the new Porsche and the car I love to drive was sitting in the garage. Read many of the debates here, the 997 is better, no it’s the 991 GT3T, ummmm no it’s the 992 GT3, no PDK vs manual?

You get the point, but guess what they’re all great cars and we have high class problems to have these debates. Maybe I found the last Porsche I want to own who knows, but I will say it’s the longest so maybe that’s the sign? The moral of my post, the best Porsche is the one that “YOU” love to drive, and don’t ask for validation of your choice because it’s yours and it’s great many people would love to be in our shoes we’re blessed. Hate to say it, but it took me washing my car at night to get here. Drive safe.

Good Thoughts. It is easy to get caught up in always trading for the latest and greatest , newest model . It is nice to bond with a car and the only way this happens is to keep it for a while. I am 30K miles into my 2015 GT3 . While I have other cars, I know that deep down I love the noises and the feel of the GT3 and if I ever have to get down to owning just one car, it will be the trusty GT3. I have bonded with it and it does all the right things for me.

Great point! I have a .1 C2 but am always feeling a GT void. Hopefully I’ll be able to make it happen (waiting to do so comfortably) soon but until then… I’ll enjoy what I have and what millions would kill to drive!

As an aside- did you bring this to Malibu country mart over the last summer? I think I recognize it!

Agree. I have the Porsche now that I specified and I thoroughly enjoy. I really can’t improve on what I have for my needs and desires.

You’re car looks really good ……it’s so easy to move a car for the hot toy. I passed on my touring spot as I have no garage space wanted it to have it, good some else will be happy with it.

Hear, hear! It is wonderful to love and enjoy the car you have, and the great news is that there is a prefect car for everyone. Just like good wines, we all have some preferences -- some prefer a good Pinot, while others enjoy a good “Cab” (pun intended). I’m with you re the Speedster. Two plus years into ownership, and I’m still in love. The buzz/ thrill from a drive often lasts for days. The Speedster has put a big smile on my face EVERY time I’ve taken it out. No other car I’ve owned has done this.

Silver wheels look great on your spec, and the red Pegasus of course

Good post.
Going forward, I do not think there will be any car that can replace a Speedster. Manual, GT3 engine, open top. There really is no substitute.
I stopped chasing for the newest toy after the Speedster.
Any EV is faster in straight line. Horsepower and 0-60 becomes irrelevant.
All about driving feel now, and nothing will ever beat the combination of manual and open top.

Couldn’t agree more - enjoy what you have. They’re amazing cars.

The new GT3 and GT4RS are superb cars by all accounts, but unfortunately the purchase process has become degrading and abusive for a plethora of reasons. Not an arena I care to enter and I don’t envision conditions improving anytime soon.
