Default FAL stuck in up position

My front axle lift won’t come down, neither with the button nor by exceeding the 30mph threshold. I have the message “Lift system fault Service required”. Is there a way to default it to lower or reset it? Am at a track day and no shops anywhere close here.
Post EDIT: so I went a ran it over a cattleguard on a local road a couple of times, and when I stopped again the warning message was gone and the drop button worked as normal. I’m afraid to test the lift again in case it gets stuck, will try it when loading the car back on the trailer after the track day.

Was just about to suggest finding a cattleguard.

Thats wild - the rough road resets it?

Could you just push down and up on the front of the car while stationary?

cattle guard is no normal road. Gave the car a good shake, I would pull the panels off the bottom and check for any loose electrical connectors.

Well, it happened again. Came in from a 20 min session, and when I slowed in the the pits the warning message came on again and the axle lifted… without me having pressed the button !
Tried the cattleguard again, tried disconnecting the battery for a few mins, put my 210 lbs in the the frunk, but problem persists. The owners manual does not identify a fuse for the FALS so not sure how is disable it if I could get it to drop down one more time. Is there a way to manually relieve the air pressure in the pneumatic system?

Just to close this out ands provide for future reference, the quick fix was to disconnect the FALS air lines (braided SS) from the bottom of each front shock (there’s an Allen bolt mount), drive around the parking lot, and re-connect. FALS has been functioning fine ever since, but still not sure what caused the original gremlin. According to a tech, it’s tough to disable the FALS (at least in the pits!) since the fuse is not readily reachable (its part & parcel of the FALS compressor assembly deep up inside the tranny hump) and the relay is under the driver’s seat.

Do you park your car with the car lifted for long periods?

Never. But you highlight a good question, it’s possible when I lowered the FALS on the trailer after strapping the car down that the front straps did not allow it to settle 100% all the way down. It’s a clearance I did check and it was tight.

I wonder if you have a loose electrical connection that's shorting out on the FAL system, (while I don't play an automotive electrician on TV), the behavior is somewhat consistent with that... just my $0.02! either that or this is another "pressure sensor switch" issue akin to that we diagnosed on the 997's...

I’ve only had one issue in the 4 years with my 991.2 GT3.

It was the FAL. Failed and had a warning similar to yours. Warranty replaced FAL motor (can’t remember exact part). . Has worked fine since.

Good luck.

Another reason why FAL is not an absolutely must have or pass option; once out of Warrenty they systems can be a $250 fix or a $2500 fix.

Default FAL and Suspension System Fault

I have a 991.2 GT3 and after a week of not driving it.

I get a FAL fault paired with a Suspension System Fault.

I’ve searched the forums and haven’t seen anyone get the same paired issue.

Has anyone encountered the same issue? At least together. I’ve seen lots of FAL faults but not with the suspension system code too.

FAL is stuck in the up position and sport mode is deactivated. Just trying to wrap my head around it.

Yes agreed, I don't have it on my RS and personally, I'm glad I don't. The car is lighter with less potential for annoying issues. I have yet to require it and I feel it's over hyped on Rennlist, as a must have option. However, for those with a challenging driveway or trailering issues, I understand the need/desire.

It's good to learn of potential issues, too. Thanks for posting.
