Default 991.2 GT3 RS PADM code / failed motor mounts

My GT3 RS was just in service last week for the 4 year belt replacement and PDK flush. I already did the oil & brake flush (+ filters) and will do spark plugs in June.

After picking the car up and going home, I took the car out for dinner and received a PADM error on the way to the restaurant. I called the service department the next day (Saturday), but no one called me back so I called again on Tuesday, because Monday was Memorial Day. They had me bring the car in right away to verify the error code and said that both motor mounts had failed.

They quoted me almost $7000 for the repair. >$2600 for each motor mount and over $1200 for labor.

The car has 30,000 miles and the warranty ended 8 days before the failure. The service dept reportedly called PCNA, who declined to cover the repair. I’m trying to determine my options - such as, is there a way to verify both failed (at the same time?) and are the third party choices (like Rennline) or used parts worth checking into.

After spending over $3k already for regular service, the idea of $7k for a couple of small parts really ticks me off.

Spend $3k for a set at suncoast and have a local indy shop install for under $1k?

Is there any way to delete the error and use cup mounts?

What's the exact wording of the error code?

Interesting they said both failed at the same time, highly coincidental! I would get a second opinion from another shop who can read those codes to make sure it is truly both.

My driver side failed about 1 year ago and I replaced myself for about $1.5K in parts from Porsche and 4 hours of my time. Rennlist has instructions on how to replace if you are a DIY'er.

FYI...I also had PADM alarms while doing a track weekend at Daytona, guess the computer thought I was in an accident on the 30 degree banking! They eventually cleared.

That’s what I’m thinking right now. I don’t have the ability to do the work myself.

I may be able to find someone who could flash the code, but what’s the advantage of cup mounts?

PADM Disabled, at least that is what the dash said. I can’t read the error code of the OBD II myself.

Is the process the same for all 911s? I found a thread where the owner was replacing on a Carrera S.

Yes. His instructions/video were exactly the same steps/process for my 2015 GT3.

I posted the link for you: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9640...l#post17532710

I find it very hard to believe that both mounts failed at the same time. I also find it hard to believe that PCNA will not cover under warranty when it was only 8 days out of said warranty. I would push back on the dealer hard.

I am correct in thinking that the 992 gt3 doesn;t have active mounts? if so, was this because they kept failing?

Cup mounts are not dynamic and don't fail

My 6th one just failed. Same pathway as before. Really keen to replace with a solid mount now.

The engine bracket for the cup cars are different -- the mount there is practically a rod going up into a T-bar hanging off the rear subframe.

If anyone has a solution I'll be very keen to try. Ready to disable stupid PADM in PIWIS myself anyway.

Porsche marketing at its absolute worst--this is tech that few ever benefit from, and ended up costing me way into the five digits. What for???

I got the PADM DISABLED message this past Saturday on a drive. I drove it Sunday morning in the canyons also before taking it in Monday. A friend used his scan tool before taking it in and it said the left side failed. I called the dealership and they said that they will replace both motor mounts. Parts come in Thursday and I am pressing to have it done by close of business Friday. If they can’t do that, I will pick it up and enjoy driving it this weekend and attending various Porsche celebrations for the 75th anniversary. The car is a 2019 Touring thankfully covered by CPO.
