Question Need advice - possible seat purchase

Hi
I'm new to this forum, but have been using forums extensively before the whole FB took over. It's refreshing to see a forum as active as this. feel free to check my short introduction here.

The reason for this thread is the possibility to get a deal on a pair of 991.2 seats. this type to be exact - minus the fire extinguisher. around 5000 miles on them.

picture taken from an old FS thread on here, courtesy of BRacing.

If you read my introduction you will find two things. one, i don't even own a porsche yet, second, i want one .

so there are two scenarios.
a) I buy and store them. later i could buy a lesser specd car and swap them out (this should technically work right?)
b) I buy them and do someone on here a favor since i think the going rate for a pair of these is a bit higher then what I expect to pay. I'd assume the price range would be between USD 13k to 15k.

What are your thoughts on this if I may ask?

Please ask, if you'd like to get more information.

certainly if you box them it will allow you to buy a sofa car and swap, and if you dont need them you should be able to recover what you paid for them!

are you buying them to look cool, or to have better support on track? if the latter, I’d save the dough and buy a real racing bucket that fits you. Never found my factory buckets to help much on track (no shoulder/hip support). It’s sized and meant for overweight NA drivers

valuable information right there. thank you 👍🏻

certainly a gt3 shouldn't be equipped with the sofas.
so i think this goes into the look category partially.
but the intention would be to drive the car on trackdays.

currently I'm running Recaro Pole Positions, Sportster CS before them.

what about being strapped in with the 6-point harnesses?

I have the buckets and I think there well worth having for track and street. There also great for personalization with different inserts. I think you'd save money just finding a car that already has them.

6 point doesn’t really keep your upper torso locked in laterally, good seats like your Recaro really helps with that. The Recaros will also be lighter.

I think this may be a bad idea. But how about go for it and I’ll buy them if you don’t want them 😂

yes, but you lose multiple airbags in the car, so if it’s track only car, great, but if you drive on streets, then no side window airbags either side and bigger issue is, no front impact airbag for passenger, so ya, that’s not good for wife or kid in car.

porsche buckets, 6pt harness, HANS device, role bar and you good for track and street usage

before you buy, ensure these are USA buckets, not European, the euro seats don’t have passenger bladder sensor for front air bag deployment.

Do it right the first time, buy a car with buckets. It'll save you money and the hassle.
