Winter Storage Question

Winter Storage Question
I just recently acquired a GT3 RS and am debating what to do with it during the winter. My original plan was to leave it in my heated garage for the season and am now considering storing it in my unheated race trailer (race car is at the shop getting worked on) and putting winter tires on my boxster instead. The trailer has power and the car will be hooked up to a tender. My concern is what to do about the Pirelli P-Zero tires that are on it. On my SUV, I've experienced Pirelli P-Zero tires cracking/failing due to cold weather when I did not swap to my winter set fast enough. That car was driven in the cold whereas the RS will be stored in the trailer. Do I need to worry about the tire compound getting damaged with temps in the 0-20F range if the car is not being used during this time? While I plan on changing the tires next year, they're basically new and I want to at least get some use out of them before changing them out to the Michellin tires.

Theoretically if you don't move the car on cold tires they would warm back up and be ok. Not sure about the cold temp cycling though and what damage that could cause. I recall a few years ago reading something from a Michelin rep that had stated if you don't move the tires until they are back above 45 degrees they should be fine, but I'm not sure if they were considering long term storage at a cold temperature in their discussion.

Reach out to the manufacturer and ask. I’ve seen some performance tires that survive in really low temperatures without a problem and some that don’t (Bridgestone 71R, various Nittos, etc).

I have an unheated, non insulated second 2 car garage. My GT3 has wintered there (NE Ohio) since new. Not Pirelli Race tires, but MSPS2's and the OEM Dunlops. I pump up the tires to +5 the cold tire pressures, wash and wax the car, fill the tank, connect to a tender, and that is it. Never to be driven below 45 degrees F. Through the last several winters, took them t the track next spring with no issues. I used to haul my spare set of tires inside the house for winter, but stopped doing that and just kept them in the same garage as well.

I might also park the car on some of these: https://www.amazon.com/Race-Ramps-RR.../dp/B01MPXRQGC

Thanks, it’s the longest time I’ve owned a car and it’s a keeper. ^^

Cracking of semi-slicks like the OEM tires is likely below -10C or +14F (even if not driven).
Can you put the car on jack stands and store the wheels/tires indoors?

Couple of years ago some guys here got their new GT4s unloaded from the boat and subsequently transported in weather around 0F and the Cup 2's they were delivered on were noticeably slow on track. The tires looked OK but switching to a set of tires that wasn't frozen gained everyone like 2s/lap. A more regular road tire will have an easier time however especially if the car doesn't move, I would probably give it a try and see what happens.
