2014 GT3 price dropping?

At this point leave the 130K cars with engines that will very likely fail in the future to people who don't know any better... it's not a 1 in 10 risk it's more like 6 or 7 which means it needs to be taken into account when considering the value of a car. It's a crying shame with some great spec cars but it can't be ignored. It will be more clear when we start seeing reports of engine failures outside the 10 year warranty and how Porsche handles it, if there's any goodwill left to keep the invoices reasonable or not. Also aftermarket solutions etc.

If you think someone will give a 60k discount just because it doesn't have the G6, well, keep believing that! Only if the engine is already toast.
Keep in mind that replacing the ff and 4 cams is "only" 10k in parts, plus labour. Who is willing to replace the whole engine are welcomed to spend big money. I think the debris from one or 2 ff are catched in the oil filter anyway, I dont think they are big chunks that affect oiling channels. At least that is my belief. Agree that the new parts are still the same bad design, but hopefully porsche will do at least some updates in material, coating so that unlucky owners can at least hope for more miles till failure. Surely dundon has made some updates, we dont know yet pricing, but the extra machinig work of the head could cost extra in excess of 20-25k.??..well IDK. And you don't count the fact that dundon solution is not proven in real life by many users, as some doubt even the G6 being good design. Just my .02

I would not pay $130k for a 2014 non G6 car. People have floated that the replacement cost to install a new engine under warranty was $60-70k. The most recent post I saw was $90k. If your $130k gt3 blew up after the 10 year, the addition money could have gotten you into a .1 rs or a .2 gt3. Unless the car is heavily discounted it is not worth it. Look at the 996/997, Porsche left the owners out to dry.

That's what I did and I'm covered through 2029.

Getting a warranty for a 991.1GT3 "post" warranty coverage is the challenge. It clearly states - "Available on new, pre-owned, and Certified Pre-Owned Porsche vehicles at the time of purchase or lease. Also available after vehicle purchase or lease if the vehicle is still covered under the manufacturers new vehicle limited warranty."
Or just buy a service contract from Porsche.https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...ctionplan/vsp/

If I were a current 991.1GT3 owner, I would jump on that opportunity now - assuming that angle works for the wider population.

They do?
As an example.
The 996.2 GT3 retailed for something like 100k back in 2003 when it came out.
Recent sales of the car have an average price of around 114k.
Factoring in inflation, cost of ownership, etc., how has it gone up in value? Even with just inflation it's a money loser.
All of this is not to denigrate any Porsche GT car, and certainly not the 991.1 GT3 with the ticking time bomb for a motor, but to think that all GT cars go up in value in the long run is like thinking you will reach the horizon as long as you walk long enough.

Thanks for the insightful comments! I’m thinking maybe spend a bit more for a 2016 (or 15). I found a 16 at the same dealer for $148l with 23k miles, silver color with red gauges, and the sport bucket seats with the red plaid inserts, which I find kind of cool. Are the buckets an issue for resale? Meaning most prefer the comfort seats?

The same FF issue is present on 2014-2016 (991.1GT3). The benefit of a later model is the extended time on the 10-year warranty, which is from the vehicle in-service date.
The carbon bucket seats are an excellent option/upgrade. On GT cars it's more an issue of not having them. These were not an option in 2014. Doesn't mean the other seats (AKA sofas) are bad. All things equal, a GT3 with the buckets should be more sought after and hold stronger price.
Is the 2016 being sold as CPO? What other options does it have, e.g., PCCB (ceramic brakes), full leather, etc.?
