Default Center lock wheels tools

Hi All,

I have been searching for a thread which listed some cost effective tools for center lock wheels and can’t seem to find it. I’m planning to do a handful of HPDEs this year and will be doing my own brake flushes. From my understanding need a big *** breaker bar , a torque multiplier and a torque wrench.

Am I on the right path?
Thanks!

Appreciate it. I read through that article. There was another where the gentleman had listed some tools from eBay/amazon. I’ll keep searching. Thanks again

I have the tools required and I have only used them once. Like new condition. I have since sold my GT3 and would like to see them go to a fellow Rennlist member. I'll price them very reasonably. Feel free to PM me your contact info and I can send you what I have. I'm in SoCal as an fyi. I'll send you a PM as well. Cheers!

At a minimum you will need a tool (Precision Instruments makes a good one) to remove the center lock. This is usually a large breaker bar and a torque wrench. Truthfully, this gets old really quick at the track. Some folks move on to the Rentorc tool, which is a special purpose torque multiplier. Others just use a torque multiplier. Others move on the the Hytorc tool, which in my opinion is the only way to go but pricey.

After you conduct your research, if you decide on a torque multiplier, I have a Stanley Proto 6:1 1200 ft lb torque multiplier that I will listing for sale soon. PM me if interested.

Precision Instruments Torque Wrench C5D600F, long 3/4" drive breaker bar, short (2-3") 3/4" drive extension, 36" ratcheting bar clamp/spreader (to apply the brake while removing/replacing front wheels). Good to go.

Thanks for posting. What size breaker bar are you using?

if you’re reasonably big, you won’t need a torque multiplier, but if you weigh less than 160lbs, you’ll probably need one. Otherwise you are on the right track: probably lots of used equipment available on the Rennlist Marketplace, or eBay, but you can also buy new. I personally went with the Teng Tools torque wrench, but most others went with the Precision Tools.

36" to 40" breaker bar and 195 lbs will do the trick.
