Service Report - Overspeed Range
Looking for some input on this.
I received a service report on a GT3RS I’m considering and it stated below:
Overspeed Range 1: Number of Ignitions 1560
Overspeed Range 2: Number of Ignitions 20
Overspeed Range 3: Number of Ignitions 0
Dealer says it wasn’t tracked but tire wear points to track use.

Hopefully one of the smart guys on here will chime in, but in my opinion Range 1 is not a big deal, and 20 in Range 2 is literally a blink of your eye. I have admittedly not seen many DME reports on the PDK GT cars, but it's my understanding the PDK should keep the over-rev's to low to non-existent levels unless the car has a tune. If it has a tune, the numbers would be a lot higher in range 1 and 2 based on what I did see on tuned PDK Turbo cars. FWIW, sort of being just an exclusive track car, I don't worry about some track use. These cars are built for it, and if the maintenance is kept up to date, Im of the opinion its normal use for an RS. Tires are meant to be consumables! Good luck on the purchase - great cars.

My GT4 Clubsport (PDK) with 7k miles has some overrevs in range 1 and 2. I was surprised. But it’s possible obviously. This car was raced in Germany. I suspect it mostly happens when the car gets a bit of air way over curbing or at the Nurburgring and the rears wheels then spun free briefly.

Ranges 1 & 2 are at the rev limiter. 9000 rpm works out to 150 revs per second. Flat 6 ignites 3 times per rev which gives 450 ignitions per second at the rev limiter. Given 1560 ignitions, the car spent just over 3 seconds at the rev limiter. Not a big deal I would say.
