Bored so posting this (courtesy of Driver's Edge posting on FB). Especially fun is the second half. Terrible start from pole but then...

Dang Sam.. Thx.. thats the best race video I've seen.. Scraping paint and all. Like the battle w/ the ref F at 7:00.. Can the GT3's 991 go this fast, or are these higher spec cars.. e..g after your comparison on the track..

Watch for the Porsche GT3R doing a highly credible Pastor Maldanado imitation mid-race.

All race cars in a given spec can go more or less as fast as the other cars in the spec because rules, balance of performance adjustments, etc.
The Porsche you see in the video is a 911 (997) GT3 R race car if I'm not mistaken - there is no 991-equivalent for that car.
There are 991-based race cars, e.g. the 911 RSR, 911 GT America, but they have nothing to do with the GT3 at all.
If you're asking about whether the 911 GT3 road car could keep pace with those cars then the answer is no, of course not, it's not a race car!
The 991 GT3 road car would be 10-20 seconds slower per lap and it would not make it to the finish line in stock trim.

Boy that was fun. You are right about the start, looked like he had a boat anchor tied to him! I watched that race this last weekend but had missed the part where Andy Pilgrim got passed. Thanks for posting!
