It varies by state. It's not an issue in my state. And for other states, such as CA, it doesn't matter whether you sell in- or out-state as you won't get any tax credit either way.

It is actually a big deal for a lot of people including me----the tax credit toward the new vehicle. Only real way it makes sense to trade IMHO. You get the most you can, or take a little less, and its a win win for the consumer and dealer. Other states that don't have such really are not helping business or individuals other than the state tax business. California is just typical money grubbing, especially since their sales taxes are ridiculously high to begin with.

+991 hence why I buy my cars used and register them in NV where I don't get have to pay sales tax.

As I have stated many times before......those of you that live in CA have more money than God. I would certainly burn all my money to have yours. To pay the sales tax rates (9% in some areas??), state income taxes (one of highest effective rates in country), city taxes, county taxes, lose potentially $10k plus in sales tax savings on high dollar trade ins (any cars for that matter) vs other states and you still find left over money to eat, buy cars, and houses certainly puts you in super hero status net worth wise to me!!!!!!!!! The rest of us poor idiots are spending all our time trying to find tax reduction situations to take advantage of, gosh we are dumb and obviously poor!!!???

Well, we do have nice weather. If you've owned your home a long time, you at least have the comfort of low property assessment. Hard to argue our taxes though!

Uh--well that's interesting as someone posted a V200 on their 2016 GT3...hmmm

Not sure your 'sales manager' has the whole story.

But then again maybe he does...someone is not telling the truth.
