Sandy gravel is right. Big Tujunga was nice a clear. And, the road through Wrightwood is closed. One thing is for certain, low turn out for 6:30 meet times.

Personally, I love going early. No bikers or other traffic to worry about. Often there's a pretty fast crew that meets just after dawn at the 7-11 on Oro Vista.
