October or November Canyon Run
I'm still recovering from surgery but, I should be good to go for a spirted drive in October or November. I was planning to do the full Angeles Crest run or, if people prefer Santa Monica mountains, we can revisit the first run we set up that was fun and a great turn out.

Further details will follow. So we can get a head count, please post if you're interested in a run, indicate preferred weekend dates and location.
As requested, we'll be doing an early meet and early depart to avoid traffic. And, it's looking like Angeles Crest inwhich case, I hope we do the whole mountain with just one pitstop at Newcombs for a bite to eat and bathroom break.
LOCATION
Foothill & Oro Vista, Sunland
8349 Foothill Blvd
Sunland, CA 910402809

TIME
It's like an early morning fishng trip. 6:30 a.m. meet, 7:00 a.m. departure.
ATTENDEES
1. HFM, (October or November Saturday or Sunday, Angeles Crest or SMM)
2. Tradervic
3. Bimmer81
4. Andreas

I'm interested...I think its easier to just set a date and whoever can make it, makes it...don't try to work around hundreds of anonymous internet user schedules

I'm kind of liking the idea of the very early Halloween run. It will set the day off nicely.
Vic, you're a mad man asking for that early a meet time but, it's a really good idea to beat traffic. If we meet at 6:00 a.m. I still think a half-hour wait time, a 6:30 a.m. departure time, for scragglers to show is a good idea. It would also be nice if you care to take lead, you're quite good at that, if hard to keep up with. Up to you of course. It's very refreshing when I'm not the one having to take point.
This run will be for those of us hardcore guys who don't care we have to get up early to get the best run possible, low turn out be damned. I'll post a route as we get closer to the date and again, I'm hoping to get a rather longer run that covers most of the mountain.
Dan (looks forward to this one)

Andreas pointed out sunrise isn't until about 7:00 a.m. and that it will still be dark when we meet and leave. A 6:30 a.m. meet time 7:00 a.m. departure time will attact more normal folks. So, we'll likely want to consider that idea.
This morning, did Stunt Road to Piuma and it was deserted all the way to Rockstore fun fun! Breakfast followed by trip to Neptunes for one beer and then back up PCH to Latigo. Was having a great time up Latigo when we ran into a CHP SUV ahead of us. That slowed us down.
Got to love the Santa Monica mountains.

Sure is, 6:30 a.m. meet, 7:00 a.m. departure. Pretty hardcore meet time and it will just be a few of us.
I'd like to post a route but I've just been swampped. I figure breakfast at Newcombs and continue up the road. I'll try to post something before the 31st.

Heads up, the ACH was all sandy gravel on the front side on Friday, single lane with pilot cars taking people up.
Big Tujunga was clear on Saturday. Went left on Angeles Forest and up a couple miles on nice fresh road. Didn't go all the way up as I had to get back, but I think they are doing construction up there too.
Not sure how you'd check it out before you go, but be warned they are doing stuff up there right now.

I think sunrise is around 7:11 a.m. so it should be about dawn when we're heading into our run.
Thanks for the heads up Matty, we'll try to stay clear of construction, last time we were up there, it was supposed to be open. I'm very glad I wrapped my whole car, including clear plex on the windshileds. Staying far enough back from the car in front makes a big difference.
