Default RS insurance

The day has come. Car at the dealer. Planned to pick it up tomorrow. (Black pts RS)

Then I get a call... Nationwide won't cover over $175k. I get a list of insurance company names from the dealer and my agent gets to work... American Modern, OneBeacon, Pure, USI (which turns out to be an agent of Pure), Chub (who want everything else) and Charter.

The best she has so far is one of them that'll do it but insists no DD and fewer than 3k miles per year.

I have no claims, no points, I'm well past my teen years - born in the 60's - and the only other driver in the house is my wife.

So I can't pick-up the car in the am.

Any suggestions? Where are you guys who own the 918s, RSs and F-cars getting your insurance? What restrictions are being imposed? (I put 1k to 2k miles a month on average on my GT3 in the past 12 months despite having 3 other cars)

Dazed and confused...

I had my GT3 insured through Chubb. I already had Chubb insuring my home, so they gave me a 10% overall discount to insure both the house and autos. I would guess they'll insure just your RS because they insure high dollar things, but it might be expensive to do if that's all you'll have them insure.

What I'll probably do with my RS based on the current market is Hagerty for collisions/collections (they provide agreed value + 150% coverage for market fluctuations) and AIG Private Client Group for liability. I had my GT3 through AIG who does the house and most other cars, my track policy as well. I have my race car on a Hagerty Collections policy for coverage when stored/being towed.

My insurance agent is a collector and racer himself, so he's figured it out for his situation as well...

Thanks to all of you for the quick responses. I'll be dialing these folks on Monday.

Re Hagerty, it's interesting because they're owned by Nationwide and my agent had told me they follow the same policy. So much ml for that piece of info...

If you want to get insured by Hagerty, your intended mileage should be < 2,500 per year and intended use should be collector car shows for display only. Trust me.

In SoCal I shopped around extensively when I got my GT3. In order to qualify for a separate group umbrella I have, I needed high limits. Geico by far the best for me. Currently psying 3,000 per year for my GT3, a Vette and a BMW 3 series.

Try Farmer's they are not cheap but they have given me a letter of intent to insure (required for Euro Delivery) so I know they will cover. And I have a Black RS as well so they have to!!!

FWIW, my GT3, Macan Turbo, 650S and Jeep are insured by State Farm with no mileage limits. Annual premium is about $3800. Been with them for decades with great service. Also do my home and rental properties with them.

That's the key, right there.

I have all my insurance policies through State Farm, home, life, auto, umbrella, etc.

State Farm too. Since I got my license and fast forward 29 years later! Have everything through them. Great multi line discounts! Same agent too.

Yeah - not cheap but none of the top tier providers are that give all the bells and whistles. I think I was paying $3,800 with AIG on my GT3 at $165k, would guess they would be around $4,500 for the RS.
