And if you flip you can say buy buy to your VIP status for next model.
Some Porsche dealers work the same way. I could've got a 991R and flipped it. But, no way my dealer would have sold me a "cup edition" when it shows up.
Long term relationship or short term thinking.

I think it is really complex and interesting design, and would love to drive one, but won't be on any list for sure.
Funny though that no one seems to care about the turbos on this one.

Regarding the Detroit auto show, be prepared for a Super Bowl crowd like event. I attended the Black tie gala last year and it was so crowded it was hard to move around the floors yet get up close to some of the cars. Porche 918 was there and the line to get inside it was like 50 people long, and that was at the gala event.
I decided not to go to the regular show during the day (even though I had to fly there and get a hotel for a few days) due to the crowds. Nice to say I attended but maybe being the first in when the doors open and get out in a few hours might work.
Good luck at the show and with the Ford GT.

Tail lights are killer - love them!!
How will the after service infrastructure work on a car like this? Assume it will be SME's only allowed to work on them? So will Ford fly these guys around to local dealers to perform the work whether it be routine maintenance or if/when something goes wrong? Can just imagine turning up at local Ford dealer and getting a response like " I've got Fred doing an oil change on a Focus and then I'll get him right onto the GT mate"

It appears that the exhaust will exit through the rear lights?

Don't think they can. But with hand picking the buyers they eliminate most of the flipping.

There will be restrictions on "flipping" via contractual rights of first refusal for a period of time.
It will easily be a million $ car if it wins at LeMans. The Carrera GT never won at LeMans. If the NFGT wins there is no doubt in my mind which I'd rather own.

Leno and VIPs will get first shots. With TOTAL production world wide Of 1200 units chances are slim for the average or even above average enthusiast like me to get an allocation. As my grandma used to say "the rich get all the bargains".
Although I am clearly a very loyal Ford enthusiast which will be reflected in my application I fully understand my chances are much much better in landing an RS at or near list than getting a NFGT allocation.
If Ford wins at LeMans this year the car will be worth twice list and gen 2 FGTs will go up in value substantially. Mho.
