There's perception, and then there's reality. So many people are defined by the media, and they are usually wrong both ways. Lewis sounds like an awesome guy. You lucky SOB!

Did you ask him how him and Nico are doing?

Sounds like a real gentleman. He's grown up a lot since I first started watching him in 2007. Thanks for sharing.

Great pic and thanks for sharing. As a lifetime Hamilton fan, even during his slump when he and his dad were at odds, it is great to hear of his approachability. He is doing something for F1 that no one before him has been able to do, and that is attract a whole new young demographic to the sport. His personal style, polish in front of the media, and undeniable skills behind the wheel of a car make him someone that young drivers will aspire to emulate. Every sport needs its role models and F1 has one of the best!

years ago (2011-ish?) I ran into Hamilton randomly on Sunset Blvd in west hollywood. he was driving an AMG SL and Nicole whatshername was with him.

they were walking out of a PinkBerry and he had a sheepish grin for being caught with ice cream he stopped and chatted for a few minutes. really nice guy. Nicole seemed annoyed that we didn't seem interested in her, which I found amusing.

Ha! I did make a comment about Nico which he responded to. I mentioned that with his early reliability problems behind him that he would continue to surge ahead of Nico. He said he was cautiously optimistic, but his body language indicated that he was more than optimistic. In my humble opinion, Lewis is a natural, while Nico has to work hard to be a tier one driver. Also, Lewis has developed this razor sharp focus that seems inpenetrable!

I'm glad you all enjoyed the the story. I believe Lewis is a reflection of his parents and they deserve a lot of credit. I had an opportunity to spend some time with Lewis's father and younger brother. His brother Nicolas is also a super nice person with a warm and contagious smile that could melt an iceberg.
Over the years I have had the good fortune of meeting many F1 drivers and believe it or not, Gerhard Berger is another super nice guy and Michael Shumacher is the most confident and self assured person I have ever met in my life - (imagine that)!
