I've driven RS and GT3 back to back (literally - less than 5 minutes between) and in my third lap in the RS, I was able to get within just over a second of my GT3 PBs, while driving someone else car with a passenger and talking with the owner of the car. It's faster. RS' front end is noticeably better - I was able to brake 2 car length later before T2 at Laguna, and was still far from understeer on turn-in. Also, it may be because I was further from the limit, but it seemed that the sweet spot for turn angle and trail braking is much larger in RS. In GT3, just a little too much trail braking or steering angle make the car push.

First time I drove an RS, I too noticed a dramatic RWS effect on the car that I did not notice in the standard GT3. It felt as if it was being exaggerated by the wider track FR/RR. It distracted me a bit from the experience. Cut to the first time I drove one on track. I'm not sure if the car had gone from factory delivered alignment to shop setup (as it was not mine at the time) but I no longer noticed the non-linear curve that I had noticed previously. Since that first drive on road, I've tracked the car with two different and progressively track focused setups and I don't notice it much anymore. This could be because my brain and inputs have unconscously adapted to it. Not entirely sure but it no longer detracts from the experience.

As far as feel on track, I find the RS possibly the most stable, easy to drive GT car I've ever been in save and except for the GT4. The stability immediately inspires confidence and I found myself going a lot faster on my usual tracks a lot quicker. I tend to like to sneak up on speed and therefore optimal lap times usually take several track days to hit.

Properly setup, the RS is insanely fast and capable. I just wish there were more drivers to glean real world setup info from. I ultimately used a combo of the latest Porsche prescribed ride height and Trak Car's most recent setup as my baseline. It's damn close to where I'd like the car to be and tire wear i very even.

There's a test done about this issue, provided by Porsche AG and published in both German Sport Auto and Evo Magazine in UK. I quote Evo's article (#216, March 2016).

Track: Lausitzring, 2.14 miles
Driver: Jörg Bergmeister
Lap times & Peak speed (mph):
GT3 1:31.99 -147.2
GT3 RS 1:30.61 -151.4
GT3 Cup 1:24.57 -149.1
RSR 1:22.51 -152.3

So RS is 1s per minute faster - exactly as I would have guessed.

Hey guys. Went back to Auto Club this weekend. Posted a better time this weekend (1:47.6) but obviously still a lot left in the car (especially in turn 2). Hopefully with a lot more seat time I'll feel more comfortable pushing the car harder through the oval.

Dan,

Nicely done. Did you have any rubbing of the front right liner?

Well done!!! - couldn't even detect a lift into T1 - I think for street GT3s and RSs, one would have to lift at the 2 marker before T1, resulting in a pretty big time and speed delta between street GT3s/RSs and cups to T3.

Hey Dave,

No rubbing on the front and the car was dropped in the front by 60 mm.
