Default oil change before break in

Hey guys, interested to get your thoughts. I recently purchased a C-T and it sat on the dealer lot for a full year and i have 800 miles on the clock. Should I change the oil before the break-in is completed since its been sitting for quite some time?

I changed my oil after break-in miles. It’s something I’ve done with my cars.

Gets rid of the assembly oil and any other stuff that came with assembly.

A word of warning, they screwed up my in-car maintenance counter with the PIWIS so tell them NOT to reset the counter if you change the oil early. I’ve got to get them to fix that at the 10k service.

I wouldn't. Seems like a waste with the low miles. The oil has not gone bad and there's not enough miles to collect all of the assembly debris. If you feel like doing "something", change the filter and top off the oil.

Yes. OEM service interval is annual or per mileage. I would change it, and the filter, but I'm pretty OCD about this stuff.

Isn't the first oil service free? Or was it considered a used car? Regardless, change it.

The oil has literally sat in an unused car on the dealer lot. Why change. You are changing basically new oil. If the oil was boxed and on the shelf for a year would you not buy it?

Change the oil and the filter.

The oil has been exposed to oxygen over a one year period (thermal cycling -- cooler AM and warmer afternoon temps -- draws in fresh air) and will have degraded somewhat. The oil filter has obviously been exposed to oil for one year and depending on the type oil and filter, the filter MAY be beginning to degrade, too.

We don't change the oil now for us, we change the oil now for the next guy.

They told me I was too early, that i needed to be closer to a year or 10k to get the free service. So I brought my own oil and paid for it.
I always change at 1k miles. Hopefully they cover the next one. They're probably tell me they can't if I don't want the mobil 0-40, which I call the worlds worst oil.

To the OP, change it for sure.

I heard you can go a little early for the free one, at about the 10 month mark.

Condensation contamination.

On this issue, opinions vary. You not changing the oil, only the filter, seems “wasteful” to me.

We can agree to disagree.

Modern Oils are changes more on time than mileage. The factory Porsche owner's manual will tell you to change it at one year if mileage limit has not been reached.
