I can only share my experience... I suffered from slow-ish starts for a while, even when driving it on a regular basis. I thought this was normal, as it was my first Porsche and I didn't have another example to compare it to. Every winter I would store the car and use a battery tender and it would always take a day or two to fully charge. Sometimes I would put it on the tender during the summer just to determine where the battery currently stood as far as health. Same result. The car would always start/crank a bit faster every time after being on the tender.

I recently replaced my battery a few months ago, and I had no idea what a "normal" 911 start up sounded like until then.

YMMV

Default 2019 991.2 C4

Both Turbo's replaced at 20K kms - actuator arms sticking.

Seems like a design flaw since they are completely enclosed now on the 992s and there was an attempted fix on the 2019 991.2s (but clearly didn't work for me as I had the updated design). Also note: I drive my C4 in the winter.

Default PSM Failure

2018 Turbo S, "PSM Failure" at 21k miles. The problems that caused it turned out to be a faulty spark plug and faulty ignition coil. The ignition coil was replaced under my extended warranty. The only charge I had to pay was for the spark plug, less than $28.

I average 30-31 mpg on the highway in normal mode in 7th gear (manual transmission). Incredible vehicle in all respects. Still turns heads and gets comments from folks almost every drive.

UPDATE
88K miles - PCM replaced under warranty after map update bricked PCM.

I am now at 98k miles. Getting ready for a trip from Alabama to NJ for a PCA event.

Default Serpentine belt

2014 50th Anniversary (Carrera S) PDK w/X50 Powerkit
24,000 miles

Serpentine belt and tensioner needed to be replaced. Showed signs of cracking and tensioner was leaking. Here’s the picture from the mechanic. Total cost was about $750 (not a Porsche dealer).

2015 Targa 4S is approaching 75K miles. No track time but a lot of backroad road trips in 48 states, including the Dragon a couple of times. The CPO ends the end of the month, but Fidelity already in place. The car has been well maintained; oil every 5K miles, etc. Not a rattle, squeak, or leak. The car is as tight as anything on the showroom floor.

CPO has covered both PADM at 42 & 45K miles and replaced cracking headlights yesterday. That is it!
Headed to the purchasing dealer tomorrow for a through inspection before the CPO is over.

Not sure you could ask more of a P car.

Unfortunately, no CPO on the driver’s aging body. Not sure how many more miles I will enjoy, but I have no doubt this 911 will go on down the road for a long time with the youngster at the wheel :-)

Default Engine lid struts

I had a similar experience with my 2012 991.1. Engine struts wouldn’t hold up the lid. After reading formums, I found this to be an easy DIY project from Amazon.

perfect fit.

Having a 2013 911 4S cabriolet, ~49,000 miles shipped from CarMax to my location and after reading and reading, I am somewhat concerned about the not often reported bore scoring issues on the 9A1 Alusil engine. CarMax offers an seemingly reasonably priced extended warranty but I am wondering if anyone has ever had an engine bore scoring claim settled successfully with CarMax. I am retired and can afford the car but a $20,000 engine rebuild is not in my budget. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The 9A1 motors don’t report bore scoring because it is not prevalent. Bore scoring is primarily driven by DFI and surface treatment. The 9A1 improved the bore gas nitrating process and the injector position. Do some searching (I know it is not easy) and find the post that has both the .1 and .2 technical sales guides. Those go into the engine improvements that addressed such things as bore scoring and the IMS (which the 9A1 does not have.). If you can’t find it post again. It is in this forum from perhaps two months ago.
