Default 991.2 Water Pump Failures

I'm in the process of deciding whether or not to purchase an extended warranty, and one of my determining factors is how common water water pump failure is on 991.2s.

Please answer the poll accordingly and post the production date or year of your car and what mileage your water pump failed at or if your pump hasn't failed and what mileage you're currently at.

I own a 2017 991.2 C2 with 14,800 miles. No water pump failure yet.

2017 991.2S overheated and had to be towed at 8000 miles and 3 years 1 month old. Fortunately I bought second hand with extra year of warranty. They said quite categorically that early 991.2s had a dodgy water pump and they replace with a modified version. Anyone coming out of warranty shortly should demand an inspection to see if their's is the updated model and if not get it replaced. If necessary, just say it overheats from time to time, even if it doesn't..

It would be helpful if folks could indicate their build month/year as well. Generally speaking, this is a '17 and early '18 problem but I am not exactly sure where the cut off is.

Sorry, I forgot about the GTS variants when I created the poll, but I can't edit the poll.

I agree.

At some point in 2018 991.2s were built with the new and improved water pump, but like Hurricane, I don't know exactly when.

Jason

Ooops, I see this was addressed when I was typing!
