I have heard that the vented seats are possibly a bit harder and less comfortable in terms of cushioning. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Slightly from what I recall. I test drove a Targa with Sport Seats, the same as the 18 ways but without all the power, and they were more comfy from what I recall as I have 18 ways.

Hot magic. You get the electric heating as well as the warm air circulation.

Heating elements in heated seats can be felt. Mine are no bother. The vented seats have nothing that touches the material- just a motor that pulls air through the perforations.

Forgot to add to my list, 2014 Lexus RX350, was mine, now wife's DD. Does heated and cooled seats.
Pro: cools/heats nearly instantly
Cons: heat is almost too hot, even on 1 setting; cooling even on 3 isn't really noticeable that much unless it's really warm

Not as bad as BMW but not as good as Ford or even GM, and not as good as my 911

However, quick shout out to Porsche for their "MAX A/C" setting. I was blown away at how effective this little button is, even in 100+ deg. Houston heat. Even just idling it still gets cold, and freezes you out when you're at speed getting air into the rads, etc. With this feature on I most of the time forget to turn on my vented seats.

Yep, Merc vented seats are worthless. Had them on my Cayenne, Macan and 911. Great Porsche option, and very nice to have even in Connecticut.

Is there a filter in the motor/ seat that needs to be cleaned? The sucking power feels less powerful than what it used to be.
