Question Back Seat Coupe vs Cab?

Good Evening Everyone,
I am looking at possibly coming back to the Porsche world, 5 years ago I sold my 911 to pay for a backyard makeover for the family, that is now all completed. I currently have 2 toys, I own a Shelby Mustang that I have had new since 2007 and I bought a 2005 S2000 to have some fun with a few years back. I honestly do not have time for 2 toys so I am looking to sell the 2 I have and get something that is a little bit of both, the 911 is my top candidate.

I am starting to do some of my research, part of me wants to get another 997.2 or even the 991.1 to stay away from the turbo's, but some quick research has me thinking otherwise.

Anyway I do enjoy my S2000, I like the top down experience, but I also have twin 14 year old boys that LOVE my toys and I want something they can ride in with me together. My quick question is are the back seats the same size in the coupe as the Cab? I thought I read somewhere they were more vertical and the Cab had less room. I do understand neither have a ton of room, but for taking the kids on a short ride they are fine in my Mustang which is similar to what my 997 had for room.

Thank you so much I will keep you all updated!!!

The side panels in back come into middle another 1-2” cant remember exactly how much. I measured once for a harness bar in my targa vs a coupe. (targa and cab rears are same). The seat backs are further forward as well making person in back seat have 0 incline possibly opposite of incline. Guess called negative incline. I dont plan on my kids wanting to be back there at 14. My 9 year old already starting to get not happy about it. If seats had some incline it would be better.

The problem seating even a short adult, or normal sized 14 year boys in a coupe is the lack of head room. The rear window has such a sharp incline towards the rear bumper that your head is bent over in the most uncomfortable position ever.

Good point, most of my trips with the 2 of them would be 10-15 minutes or less. I am on the fence if I should go Coupe or Cab, maybe I will find a Targa that gives me a little of both.

The rear seats in the cab are definitely more upright than the coupe. They’re small either way. I’ve used mine for quick trips and emergency situations, but they’re not good for much else. I took my visiting niece and nephew for a ride in my 997 cabriolet a few years ago, and it was fine for small kids, as you can see below.

I don’t know how a cab back seat is; but I regular take my tall kids (ages 9 and 5) in the back seat of my coupe. It’s not the most comfortable place to be but they’re fine (and enjoy it) for the 15-20 mins rides from school

this is the reason I got the 911. I was initially going to get a cayman as a second fun car but I need to pick up the kids occasional from school so I went with the 911

That is exactly why I asked, if not for the kids I would order a C8 or get a Spyder/GT4, but I want to make sure I can fit the 2 of them for short trips.

Have you thought about keeping the 2000 for the boys to drive later? That's coming fast! I wish I'd kept my Honda Accord Coupe from years back for our daughter.

1) Sell me your S2000 and 2) I think the cab will work great for teenagers. The coupe really lacks headroom - my 6 year old son in his booster seat nearly has his head touching the roof.

Not a bad idea it appears the values will either continue to go up or at minimum stay the same.
