Ferrari Roma vs Porsche 991.1
#106
I don't love the looks but objectively.... It's not like our 911's are the most attractive cars for the money either. The 991 interior was a huge step up from 997 but still way behind the industry. 992 was giant leap but again.... behind. I like that I can drive my Porsches the way they should be and don't feel like their too "precious" to enjoy. A CPO 911 also fits my financial tolerances where a Roma would not. For me - I can look past aesthetics if a car provides the emotional return when I'm driving it.

Yea I know. I had to check my calendar and make sure it's not April 1. Jesus.
It's fun to compare brands but often times we get the ant mentality where we must protect the queen ant. In this case, Porsche. But Rennlist members are often pretty adult about it. I was on a BMW M3 forum and there was a similar thread and I posted how much I love my Alfa Romeo. One dude went sideways completely. For me, I want to hear honest ownership opinions. Or any opinions for that matter. Mid-engine Ferraris somehow don't work for me now but it's because when I owned them I became very self-conscience. And I'm no longer boy-racer. The Roma is stunning. Still not a fit now....and that's what it's all about, isn't it?
I am shocked as hell about the Virginia tax. Jeeze.... I thought California registration was high. But Ferraris are very cheap to insure if you go to the right companies.

Hey drcollie,
I saw your post at FerrariChat, which directed me to this thread.
Like some of you here, when I first saw pics of Roma, I too thought it just look like an Aston or Jaguar. Nothing special.
.
Got invited for a test drive 3 weeks ago, sure, why not.
One week after the test drive, we ordered a low optioned Roma in Rosso Corsa, delivery in July 2021 (not one year wait).
Our first Ferrari purchase, one thing off my bucket list, looking forward to it.
And I'm the biggest Porsche supporter, always have a 911 in garage since 1996. I still believe 911 is the best daily driver and track weapon, but I cannot resist the itch to try Ferrari ownership once.

Are you kidding??? I would move out of Loudoun County / VA for that alone!
I too am debating ordering a Roma. I recently purchased a Panamera Turbo ST and have an F8 Spider on order but the Roma would be a nice daily and debating between that a 911 Turbo S or maybe regular 911 Carrera 4S. I'd trade the Panamera Turbo ST either towards the 911 or Roma.

After 10 months wait, finally delivered the Roma.
Not much driving impression yet. Front end high horsepower sport car, driving is quite different than 911s that I am used to.
It is very comfortable, light steering, fast acceleration, but size is bigger than 991 and not as nimble in turns.
Still need to spend time learning about all the electronic and touch screen controls.
on a side note, took the GTS club coupe to a track day this week.
sport plus button on, easy to track with PDK, but will need better tires and brakes in order to keep up with the GT cars.

Congratulations on the Romas
If you aren’t into the F cars then this design language of the Roma doesn’t seem cohesive.
The lines of the Roma are taken from the Monza SP1 & SP2. The egg shaped pod cockpit, the blade lights front and back.
In Fact look at the lights of the FXX-K, its a minimalist led blade
*Edit, and as far as the electronics are concerned, just connect your iPhone and use Siri.
