Appreciate you sharing the DIY tips Bob. How did the repair end up faring longer term? My 991.1 CS is experiencing the same issue on the driver's side. Purchased last year (also a Florida car, seems to be a trend). Bought some 3M adhesive spray (industrial strength) and looking to give it a go. My only concern is the spray bleeding through the alcantara headliner and ruining it. Was this an issue for you? Thinking just one coat applied to the inside of the roof (and not on the backside of the alcantara itself) is the right course of action.

I didn't have any issue as you described, just make sure you put towels or newspaper all around the front and back seats because the 3m glue comes out fast and furious. It worked great and I highly recommend it. Take your time and as I mentioned, be careful of overspray. Good luck.

Well done!! Had this happen to my 2014 Cayman. Had a recommended shop (from dealer) complete the work for $1k. Your work looks great!

Just had this happen and I live in Florida as well. I also had the door panels replaced under warranty, Car has 13K miles never spent the night outside. I guess German glue does not like Florida sun.

I have the same issue on a 2014 991.1. Was typically garaged but had to leave it out in the sun for 5 days. There are lots of cases of sagging in hot weather climates and they are well documented. My understanding is that for environmental reasons Porsche shifted to water based glues. There are some fasteners that are useful as a temporary fix until the headliner shell can be removed and a new headliner fabric glued on. Check out Dorman headliner retainers, part #74361. There are some DIY videos on line if one is so inclined. Dealers only do by ordering a new fabric covered shell which is why the cost is crazy. Dealer(s) so far have ignored by cover via CPO request. Folks who refabric typically charge $600 to $800. Good luck getting resolved.

Between the sagging roof liners, warping door panels and rattling plastic clips, these car interiors were not built to last.
My car has been garaged since birth and still all of the above have occurred.
Extremely disappointing.

Liners sagged in both of my Caymans. A shop a couple miles from here installed new liners for $450. Excellent work.

As mentioned above, it's the crappy eco-friendly glue they were forced to switch to.

Yes, it is.
It starts at the sides.

Nice job!! Looks amazing! That 3M spray will hold. I have used it before and dried pretty well.

I was going to suggest to do it and worst case you still have to get ir replaced. So no loss there.. but it worked!

Can't believe this happened to you..
