Default Coupe roof liner detaching

Hi,
The roof liner on my 991 coupe has started to detach from the roof. Does anyone know if there is adhesive or glue that's suppose to hold it up? I think it's dried up. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Update: I contacted 2 dealers and an upholstery shop. All 3 places said I have to replace the headliner. If I get the OEM from the dealer and have the dealer recommended shop do the install it's $3,000! I'm going to attempt to glue it back in place. This is an unexpected huge cost and disappointment. If anyone else had this issue, please let me know your solution. Thanks

Pics? You may be able to glue back in the spots using contact cement/adhesive however other areas may start to fail.

Exactly what I was planning to do. 3M make a spray adhesive for this purpose.

Having the same issue on my current 991. I am not going through the dealer s they are too expensive, but I can’t get any of the local upholstery guys to get back with me.

Mine is hanging low like yours, but on the drivers side. I will say it does act as a nice sunblock when driving.

Do guy leave your cars in the hot direct sunlight often? Is it just the adhesive wearing out like on the door panels? I am sure an upholstery shop could somehow just glue it back.

With 114k miles, it’s seen more than just sun. It gets driven and used. That’s still no excuse for the headliner to start drooping.

You will be more than fine with spray as mentioned above. Once I used glue with a seringe to fix a sagging headliner in a Land Rover (seems like a thing for British cars, I see it’s not uncommon on Aston Martin DB9) and it came out neat. Still disappointing to see it happen on a 991 though :-(

The top upholstery shop can't even schedule the job until August here in Wilmington. Boats and restaurants have them booked out for weeks. I'm going to attempt the repair myself

No one wants to glue it. Only replace the entire thing.

Throw some spray adhesive (the kind usually used on headliners) and be done with it. Should be a super simple job. I wouldn't pay anyone to do it.

Agreed. Suncoast may have decent pricing.

Finally got a response from a local shop. They are guesstimating $800 with a replacement that will be similar. I’m gonna stop by Monday to see what they have. I’m told it is very similar to original. We’ll see.
I’d rather not do half-assed glue job. As it is coming loose across several spots across the ceiling, drivers d passenger side, and in between.
